We're the USA we aren't doing anything about this. If this were the Trump admin we'd be flying drones helping bomb things. Americans don't like hard decisions.

More like easy decisions that demand hard actions. So we pretend the decisions are hard so don't blame us for not making one before it's too late and oh no now it's too late.

Stop me if you’re heard this one before.

The language in this article is DESERVEDLY harsh against Israel (and the United States):

Quote

The last week has seen an escalation in violence by Israel against the people of Gaza, an area that should constitute the state of Palestine but is instead an open-air prison subject to apartheid conditions imposed by the fascist Israeli government. What started as a protest last week against the forced evictions of Palestinian residents in East Jerusalem by Jewish settlers has since escalated into a full-on Israeli bombing campaign against Gaza. At least 145 people, including 41 children, have been murdered by Israeli missiles, funded in part by allies like the United States.

Anyone else find parallels with the hutu/tutsi situation? Like if israel lets their boot relax from the throat, they'll all be killed. That doesn't make what they're doing right, but imagine being a Jew in israel, hamas absolutely is a boogeyman that will come to kill you. And maybe your grandparents deserved it, but you don't. You haven't done anything wrong. This is your homeland as much as theirs now.

I see no parallels to the Hutu/Tutsi situation in Rwanda whatsoever - they simply aren't comparable circumstances in the least.

As for the notion that if Israel relaxed its grip that they'd all be killed is simply ludicrous by every definition of the word.  How on Earth would that even be remotely possible short of Hamas developing or importing a military capability that would be a near-peer with Israel?  It's so far out of the realm of reality that it's not even worth considering.

This isn't the situation that Israel found itself in from 1948 to 1967 (maybe as late as 1973) when there was genuinely an existential threat to Israel's existence, not even remotely close.

You have to look at it in context, though. Like, let's say there was a UN mandate that israel has to incorporate palestinians into their government (and it would most assuredly take a UN enforcement for that to happen). A part of that would be "no retaliation, no force." Israel would essentially be forced to stand down.

There aren't any scenarios I can see where that doesn't end in a lot of israelis being killed
