Uh-huh.

Are any former Runic developers involved with this?

IGN sat down to chat with Max Schaefer, CEO of Echtra Games, the studio behind Torchlight Frontiers. A specialist in action RPGs, he’s a founding member of Blizzard North and a contributor to Diablo, Diablo II, Hellgate: London, and the Torchlight series.

Oh shit! I knew Max Schaefer had left Runic a couple of years ago to start up a new studio.

With Runic only working on Hob, I assumed Torchlight was dead at that point.

Really interesting to see Max now working on Torchlight at a new studio.

Now that I know Max is involved, I'm considerable more hyped.

New interview with Max Schaefer goes over the gameplay, pets, and player houseing

https://www.mmorpg.com/torchlight-frontiers/interviews/max-schaefer-on-housing-pets-progression-and-more-1000012964

This bit on player housing i thought was pretty interesting:

Quote

That’s right, as we stated before, Torchlight Frontiers has a housing system that Echtra is calling Forts...
"A cool thing we do is take your forts and put them in the world randomly for other players to see. And they can come up to your fort and say ‘He’s got an enchanting vendor, I can use him just like an enchanting vendor in the town, and I will pay a fee to get my item enchanted.’ And if it’s your fort, you get the fee.”

In short, Max wants to make sure that players are “incentivised to make a cool fort with lots of utilities, not just for yourself but for other players too.”

The Dusk Mage is the star of the newest trailer for Torchlight Frontiers, Echtra Games’ upcoming entry in the ARPG series. The Dusk Mage hero class harnesses the power of light and dark energy to carry out a wide array of devastating magical attacks. Watch the Dusk Mage balance these opposing magical forces to blast through hordes of enemies in Torchlight Frontiers’ new class reveal trailer!
