Brian
Breaking News: Democrats reduced the stimulus bill’s jobless aid after Senator Joe Manchin threatened to defect. Commissar SFLUFAN
The GOP governor of WV is to the left of Manchin. It's simply not up for debate at this stage.

Brian
At some point you get used to the sadism, which is bipartisan and old. The obvious and outwardly incongruous delighting in it, that weird giddy smugness in the "no," is a little harder to process. https://t.co/pWkwBdySq1— David Roth (@david_j_roth) March 5, 2021

Yeah, I can't say it was sparked by that tweet. A lot of it is superficial. I used to listen to The Weeds podcast (back when Ezra was with Vox) and Matt's voice is insufferable. He claims himself to be a progressive, but a lot of his Twitter takes are responses to actual progressives where he tries to play this down the middle reasonable voice and it just comes off like he's out of touch and being a contrarian just for the sake of it. Fizzzzle
Is there a point to the Senate anymore? Like, it used to not be a popularly elected position, which was theoretically isolated from populism. It is now popularly elected and absolutely a victim of populism. It holds the country hostage more often than it helps anything
