Trump pressuring GOP Senators to kill Ukraine support as well as border deal in order to deny Biden any wins

The former president is telling Republicans he "doesn't want Biden to have a victory" in 2024, said a source familiar with the bipartisan negotiations.

Even without being President he is causing international chaos. Without continued American support there is no way that Ukraine defeats Russia. It will likely survive and not be wholly conquered thanks to more limited European supplies, but it won't force Russia to use up all existing stocks (which would allow it to retake more land).

Also the GOP stance on the "border crisis" is so transparent, yet they will get away with it.

1. Say there is an invasion of brown people at the doorsteps

2. Insist extreme measures must be taken (including letting brown people die at the border) to stop this

3. Ignore SCOTUS ruling that gives federal government sole power over borders, declare an "invasion" so states can act unilaterally

4. Deny the federal government the ability to do anything to stop said invasion

5. Campaign months later on the "crisis" of this invasion, and say the federal government is useless, so elect us into the federal government to stop it, because it's a big crisis

I'm really starting to worry this is going to end up another J6 FAFO moment. The reaction on conservative social media is unhinged regarding Abbot's statement. There is the technical response some conservatives are using to justify their statements (technically SCOTUS didn't order Texas to do anything) and others like Tim Pool saying this is the rise of the neo confederacy.

Senate negotiators have agreed to empower the US to significantly restrict illegal migrant crossings at the southern border, according to sources familiar with the matter, a move aimed at ending the migrant surge that has overrun federal authorities over the past several months.

The Senate deal, which is expected to be unveiled as soon as next week, would also speed up the asylum process to consider cases within six months – compared with the current system, under which it could take up to 10 years for asylum seekers.

President Joe Biden, in a rare statement on ongoing congressional negotiations, said the deal that Senate negotiators have worked toward is both tough and fair.

“What’s been negotiated would – if passed into law – be the toughest and fairest set of reforms to secure the border we’ve ever had in our country,” he said in the statement Friday. “It would give me, as President, a new emergency authority to shut down the border when it becomes overwhelmed. And if given that authority, I would use it the day I sign the bill into law.”

Under the soon-to-be-released package, the Department of Homeland Security would be granted new emergency authority to shut down the border if daily average migrant encounters reach 4,000 over a one-week span. If migrant crossings increase above 5,000 on average per day on a given week, DHS would be required to close the border to migrants crossing illegally not entering at ports of entry. Certain migrants would be allowed to stay if they prove to be fleeing torture or persecution in their countries.

Moreover, if crossings exceed 8,500 in a single day, DHS would be required to close the border to migrants illegally crossing the border. Under the proposal, any migrant who tries to cross the border twice while it is closed would be banned from entering the US for one year.

The southern border has massive issues, but the fix has nothing to do with what the narrative is. It’s a smoke show for chuds to hate the other but also, quite frankly, I’m tired of people in NOVA lecturing those of us here about the crisis too.

The problem with the border is if these people keep crossing the border to the US then there will be no one left to work the jobs the US companies outsourced to Mexico!

That’s what Guatemala is for

It's not Mexicans crossing the border. Life is getting pretty good in Mexico these days.

If you polled members at Trump/GOP rallies, I believe you'd find there are currently about 40 million retired special forces in the United States.

And they all teabagged your mom last night.

The "Take Our Border Back" convoy aims to stop illegal immigration by working with "constitutionally sound" law enforcement at the Texas border.

With border security legislation unlikely in Congress, the White House wants to take action. Migrant crossings are expected to soar back to last year’s record...

Biden faces growing political backlash, some of it from members of his own party, over his handling of the border as he campaigns for re-election. He plans to cite the Republican turnabout on the bipartisan border legislation as proof that for political reasons the GOP does not really want to solve the problem. But he is still vulnerable on the issue, trailing his likely 2024 opponent, former President Donald Trump, by more than 30 points on securing the border and controlling immigration, according to a new NBC News poll released this week.

The Biden administration has already taken multiple unilateral actions to try to stem the flow of migrants.
