The last Dem who ran for governor here was found in a hotel room covered in vomit with gay escorts on meth too drunk to talk. The FL Democratic Party is a comedy of buffoonery.

Dems gonna be kissing those white boots soon.

So the VP should be able to decide on electors and stop the steal?

I think DeSantis will be the nominee in 2024. Trump is gonna flame out soon.

The Florida governor is expected to cruise to reelection next week—yet might hold back on a 2024 bid. One source tells Vanity Fair that DeSantis has led donors “to believe he will not run if Trump does,” while another says he could “walk into the presidency in 2028 without pissing off Trump or Florida.”

I'm not on the stop the steal or Trump train. The GOP has some work to do to shake the remaining Trump stuff off.

The party is currently committed to these beliefs. There’s not going to be any shaking them off if people vote for the current GOP. You got Mitt Romney and a handful that are openly resisting. Everyone else is on board the train, including yourself whether you realize it or not. This isn’t like saying voting democrat is voting for socialism or communism. There are hundreds of GOP politicians elected and running that are in powerful positions that are on board with stealing elections.

If someone votes for the GOP, they are supporting authoritarianism.

What is appealing to you about DeSantis?

He got off to a good start in FL. He pushed through the legal marijuana law that Gov Scott sat on for a year. He upped spending on costal cleanup, raised teacher pay, got rid of common core. I like his moves on Disney. The "Don't Say Gay" Bill was anything but and a real common sense law.

His response to Ian was great, FL currently has a surplus.

I read that he appeals to Latinos because they like his "swagger". He's not afraid to be combative with reporters. I think he will sail to White House on cultural issues alone.

I disagree. I think most of the party doesn't like him privately. They have to put on a happy face in public as he still has support.

I think the majority of people will take whatever monster the GOP is right now over what the Dems are. The trans stuff isn't flying anywhere but with white liberals who hate themselves. Big cities are basically war zones under Dem control. The 3rd stimulus sent us into an inflation spiral.  Midterms will be a wash out.

Harris has to be the worst VP I've ever seen. She's worthless.

What they say privately is irrelevant. It’s what they say in public and what bills they pass or don’t pass that matter. A huge portion of the GOP base is convinced that the election was stolen and supported Donald taking over through a coup. Elected officials, notwithstanding what they say in private, have to appease a brainwashed base of support that you have chosen to cooperate with and support. There is a point of no return and imo the GOP has already passed it regardless of Trump. It’s unfortunate that you and so many others are not seeing it.

You aren't wrong. However Bill Maher pointed this out in a recent segment, the Dems are so bad that people are willing to vote for Herschel Walker over them. Not because they like Walker, but they REALLY don't like them.

The Dems could end this nightmare with a decent candidate, not Biden\Harris, in 2024.

If I’m right, start voting Democrat until the republicans shake off the authoritarian shit. You can work with democrats on getting better candidates and moderating positions you don’t like.

That's how I feel about the GOP. I'm not a fan of the abortion moves. I REALLY wish that issue would go away. However on things like taxation, modern day cultural issues, crime, I'm more on board with the GOP. I didn't vote Trump before and I won't in 2024.

What did Warnock do to make people hate him over a supposed prolifer who pays for abortions?

The thing is, I agree with you about Florida. I know one big pro choice woman who thinks DeSantis “doesn’t take any shit.” The “funny” thing to me if that she’s militantly pro choice, so when he goes for a 6-week ban, I know I’ll be asking her what she thought was going to happen.

I’m glad you’re not on the Trump train, and honestly, I’m not surprised you dislike him. But voting for a dude who’s trying to be Trump Jr isn’t going to shake off the Trump influences, my friend. They’re going to see it works, see that voters won’t punish them, and double down. That’s why Election deniers are running for Secretaries of State and in positions where they can influence elections.

I’ve never thought the Republican Party was straight up dangerous until recently. And until they’re actually consistently punished for curtailing rights such as abortion or (soon) gay marriage, or contraception, they have no reason to shake anything off.

I voted for Obama and I voted for Clinton in 2016. I liked Obama, still do. I think he gave a shit about the job and tried for consensus including the ACA. I really dislike Clinton, but I thought she would be a technocrat, at least interested in running the country efficiently.

I think the Dem Party those 2 belonged to are gone.

The pre-Trump GOP is gone too.  It's going to stay that way at least until Trump finally dies.
