Wrong it's age discrimination to say the Emperor of Mankind can't serve as a senator from the Golden Throne of Terra just because he's technically dead.

Clearly I'm just an ageist and not worried at all about people holding on to their positions of power for as long as humanly possible. Because that isn't constantly happening or anything.

California’s governor chose a labor leader turned power player to serve in the Senate, and an adviser told POLITICO there were no preconditions about whether she could run in 2024.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom will appoint EMILY’s List President Laphonza Butler to fill the seat of the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, elevating the head of a fundraising juggernaut that works to elect Democratic women who support abortion rights, according to a person familiar with the decision.

Here's the Post article about her background.

She's the president of Emily's List, an NPO that works to elect pro-choice candidates. She's worked in the labor movement for two decades, serving as president of CA's biggest union and has long been a political consultant at a major firm.

Seems like a pretty good pick. She hasn't been in office before, but she's no political novice. As head of Emily's List, she's a strong voice on abortion rights, which is pretty timely. She won't be running for Feinstein's seat.

There's all kinds of stuff that could be done. Even if you don't have absolute term limits, you could have consecutive term limits for senators, for example (say, no more than 2 consecutive terms without having to vacate your seat)

... or, y' know, absolute term limits that keep people from being in power for 50 years

All Senators should be appointed by the State Legislatures, and in the event of a seat vacancy, the Governor should be able to appoint an acting Senator.

Between this and the left is wrong for Musk turning nazi

Are you betting on being the worst takes on here?

Just heard they're doing a Feinstein memorial on the steps of San Francisco city hall today. Do you think they'll have the Confederate flag at half mast in her honor?

The rumor resurfaced as multiple reputable news outlets reported on Feinstein's death at age 90.

Bernie bros need to go away.

The 17th Amendment was a mistake

Yes, god wrote the constitution, hence why my fiancé only counts for 3/5ths of a person to this day!

All hail the living word of god as enumerated in the articles.
