Canadian Insurrection | UPDATE - Oversight commission rules invocation of Emergency Act by Trudeau was warranted

Recommended Posts

So far it's been a completely peaceful presentation.

No rocks thrown at police.  No molotov cocktails.  No tear gas.  No protestors showing up to battle riot police.  No overturned/burning cars.  No statues decapitated.  No churches burned.

Defacing statues seems to be something the Canadian public seems OK with given what happened last year.  At least what they did to Terry Fox's one was just a costume.

I'm surprised the truck convoy folks from Western Canada decided to cover themselves with the fleur-de-lis.

No one looks good coming out of this.  The drunk protestors doing dumb things.  Nor the media holding them to a different standard from the protests that have happened over the last few years.  The result is, the divisions in our society continue to increase.

The problem with large, nation-wide protest movements is that they are injected with ideas and slogans that at best, run parallel to the main protest's concerns, and at worst, are counterproductive to that movement's cause.

Anyone remember Occupy Wall Street?  What a shit show that was.  You leftists should be thankful that these Canadian conservatives don't have a unified message, or any semblance of leadership.

It's a common refrain from these nutjobs, that the media doesn't cover them. Of course, that's almost always yelled at the media who are interviewing them. And then when the media invites people (more mainstream supporters of the rallies) to come on...they refuse. And this morning, the rally organizers held a press conference...and didn't allow any normal press to attend, just insane youtube channels, etc.

The open secret is that the police contain a large number of white supremacists and nationalists themselves, and are sympathetic towards other white people. If an Indigenous or brown/black person does something illegal, the police response with 10x the force necessary. If a white person does it (and especially white and right-wing), the police avoid taking any action.
