One of Trump’s greatest advantages in 2016 was that he was seen as an outsider. Hunger for an outsider is still evident in the electorate—hence why Bernie and Yang were able to make a decent run at the nom. Not balancing out Biden’s ultimate insider-ness with a more outsiderish/less conventional candidate is a bad idea and could alienate these voters who share much of the Trumpists’ desire for getting away from ‘business as usual’.
