I'd have to think about that one. Although if I have to think about it, it's certainly not a "you got this" situation

I actually think adopting the FF7R combat style is a better match for KOTOR than it is for FF7 and I really like the FF7R approach! I think it's a better match because original KOTOR was real-time with pause and cooldowns between each action and the FF7R combat is exactly that with that addition that in between the cool downs you control regular action-like attacks. The trick is to make it so that you need to be doing both to succeed: both regular combat and issuing commands with the pause whenever you get the chance, and I think FF7R does a good job showing that you can strike that balance. It also allows for a bit more flair in the fights, and Star Wars lightsaber battles were always meant to be flashy.

Maybe worth remembering that even in the original story, there have been many versions of Neo (6). He always appears and is reborn in the Matrix. The version we saw did things a little differently leading to the ending we got though. Beyond that, Neo is told even in the first that he is the reincarnation of the One who helped the "first" humans escape.

PC Valve drops a Tim Epic-approved steamer!
legend replied to Hurricane Game's topic in The Spawn Point
My memory of info previously released was that the new versions of Proton Valve is developing, but which is not in the hands of the public, largely corrects these holes. Not sure if that is as true as they claim, but if so, you can't really invalidate the claim by what the current version of Proton is. -

Okay yeah. Put me in the boat of "I really don't want to play as that young of a kid," but then everything else looks phenomenal. I'll definitely keep an eye on it.

Nintendo New Switch revision to use new Nvidia chip supporting DLSS
legend replied to crispy4000's topic in The Spawn Point
The Nvidia Jetson Xavier NX has tensor cores (Volta architecture) so I wonder if it can do DLSS. If so, that makes me think you could build a little box sitting between your TV and something like a Switch, intercepting the videos, upscaling it to 4K, and then sending to the TV. Not sure how much latency that would introduce, nor if there would be annoying HDCP issues to resolve. -

If they go back to allow for per-game specific training, this *might* be doable with other sufficient advances in the area. -
As a lore nerd who read a few of the Halo books, including the first forerunner book that was supposed to be the backstory, I thought the Halo 4 story was awful. That regards both the new "lore" they introduced in the game and the fact that sexualizing Cortana as much as they did and turning it into some weird love story was a massive mistake that misunderstood the framing of the relationship between her and the Chief established in the previous games and books. Gameplay-wise, Halo 4 also failed to capture the sandboxy feel of the previous Halo campaigns.

I suspect it's not so much that they want their day in court as much as they don't want it to go to private arbitration which is probably biased towards Disney. That is, they'd probably be happy with a good regular settlement that they can negotiate themselves with court being the threat if they don't get a good offer.

Television Marvel's "What If...?" First episode came out today
legend replied to Fizzzzle's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
I watched the first and half of the second episode. I think the concepts are pretty boring. What If's don't have to be though. You can use it to better explore how the hero's we know are impacted on a character-level by specific events, which in turn gives more insight to the version we know. The first two seem like random dart board choices and are too throwaway. -
I got it because nostalgia and who knows, but I was never a big fan of their single player (going to multiplayer only in Q3 was a really good decision), and replaying it now, I think that still holds true. Bottom line is if you want an arcady twitch shooter, modern Doom Eternal is about 1000x better.
