This is an area that the CPC must win if they want to form government. They keep increasing their vote share in the prairies, but are not doing enough in the GTA and suburbs.

CitizenVectron
9 minutes ago, Jason said: show us on the doll where Trudeau touched you Absolut is likely upset that despite Trudeau being in power for so long, and defeating three successive Conservative leaders, he is still more popular than the new Conservative Ben Shapiro-impersonator leader, Pierre Poilievre (Poilievre has worse approval numbers at this point than any Conservative leader in modern times, mainly because of his association with the crazy far-right wing of the party, including the convoyists and PPC). Polling has been pretty steady, with the CPC beating the LPC by 2-4 points in the averages, but the LPC still coming out with more seats (due to the CPC being over-popular in seat-shy areas). Also, these "attacks" on Trudeau (saying that he is egotistical and vain) aren't very effective since everyone already knows he is. They need something new. Inflation and housing are honestly the most effective angles (even though Trudeau has nothing to do with inflation, despite right-wing assertions that he somehow caused worldwide inflation), but housing is a more valid attack (even though Poilievre wouldn't change things at all, since it's the conservative provincial governments that are failing on this). The issue is that Poilievre is also a loser who supports crypto and can't be taken on anything to do with economics. If there is going to be an election next year, then the Liberals would be crazy to change leaders. If it's late 2024/early 2025, then I do think they should change. I just don't know to who. Freeland seems to want the NATO top job, so it might be more of an open race than predicted. I like Marco Mendicino.
AbsolutSurgen
Pierre Poilievre is a douche. However, that doesn't make Trudeau any better of a PM. Polls, despite Poilievre's personal unpopularity ARE showing the CPC's getting a plurality of the seats if an election were to be held today.

While obviously it should be removed for the good of society, the story is a non-story and only exists to rile people up (National Post is a national right-wing rag paper). The CRTC received complaints, so is opening for comment. It's not actually considering, it's just part of the required process for any complaint.

CitizenVectron
I feel like the Speaker's staff googled "surviving WWII Ukrainian veteran" and then failed to do any follow-up on the details. What a bunch of buffoons. Obviously, many Ukrainians fought for both the Soviets and the Nazis due to simply being conscripted, or because they were forced to choose the lesser of two evils (given the info they had at the time while the two empires fought over their country), so I will never judge anyone for simply fighting for the Germans or Russians in Ukraine in WWII. But...this guy was in an SS division. That's quite different, even if he himself wasn't a full German member of the SS.

Like, seriously, there’s racism, and tjen theres slips when you’re pronouncing a foreign name and screw up. Nobody is on 100% of the time. Attacking him for it is a bit ridiculous and most people see through it if they read anything beyond “Leader says the N-Word”. of course theres a percentage who are truly outraged, but he was never getting their vote anyway. CitizenVectron
5 hours ago, Brick said: If he's former Schutzstaffel why isn't he in prison? Apparently foreign nationals fighting for the Germans were assigned into territorial militias, which were assigned to the SS. So some signed up to kill Soviets (who had recently committed genocide against Ukrainians), thinking the Germans were the lesser of two evils. Others were fascists, etc.
CitizenVectron
The Speaker has stepped down.
