The 2019-20 Mock Gambling Thread - WEEK 6 - Dodger rolls into the lead!

Dodger hit big on his Feature Game bet and was one of an unprecedented three players to call one of our Question 8 Weekly Leaders to surge ahead and grab the top of the leaderboard going into Week 6!  His lead is slim and the majority of the field is still only a single good week behind; can he hold on?!

########## WEEK 5 RESULTS ##########

Week 5 Feature Game: L.A. Rams (+1.5) at Seattle Seahawks
The Rams lost on the field, but won in the MGT, beating the Seahawks by a score of 30.5(29+1.5)-30.  Bets on LA win.

QUESTIONS
1) What will be the first scoring play of the Feature Game? Rams TD, Rams FG, Rams safety, Seahawks TD, Seahawks FG, Seahawks safety, or other? ($700 for the correct call)
Zurlein booted an early 47 yarder for the first score, a Rams FG. Only Dodger and Slug called this one correctly.

2) Which team in the Feature Game will have the most total combined rushing yards? ($500 for the correct call)
Seattle more than doubled LA's rushing total, 167 to 82.

3) Name the QB that will be sacked the most in Week 5. ($800 for the right name)
The Jets apparently forgot to activate their O-Line as Luke Falk was sacked a ridiculous 9 times.  Nobody called this.

4) Who will score the first touchdown (as always, the guy standing in the end-zone) in the Jacksonville @ Carolina game? ($700 for the correct guess)
McCaffery took it into the endzone on 1st and goal from the 5 to kick off the scoring in this one.

5) Call the winners:
Buffalo at Tennessee
Chicago at Oakland
Cleveland at San Francisco
($500 for EACH correct named game winner, $1,000 bonus if you call all 3 correctly)

Several players got one or two of these.  Nobody got all 3 to earn the bonus.

6) Name the highest scoring team in Week 5. ($800 for the correct team)
The Texans served a 50 burger on Atlanta, hanging up 53 points to lead all teams in scoring. Keyser_Soze was the only player to see this smackdown coming.

7) Name the lowest scoring team in Week 5. ($800 for a correct guess)
Cleveland couldn't get anything going on Monday night, only scoring 3 points and taking up the rear in Week 5's scoring totals. Jose was the only player who call this one.

8) Name the player who will rush for the most yards AND the player that will have the most receiving yards in week five. ($2,500 for each player named correctly, $4,000 bonus if both names are called)
McCaffery led Week 5's ground game with 176 yards and Amari Cooper pulled down 226 through the air to lead all receivers. Three players (Dodger, RedSoxFan9, and SFLUFAN) called McCaffery's name for the rushing title!  Nobody called Cooper though, so no bonus awarded.

I knew the Falcons sucked, I'm not sure why @Biggie didn't see it coming as well. :p

I still picked the Packers -- because I think they are likely to cover.  However...

The Lions seem to be better than in previous years, they actually appear like they might contend for a playoff spot.

My main point is that a 4.5 spread takes away lots of situations that NFL games resolve themselves (and NFL teams try to win games, not beat the spread, and are willing to trade winning margin in order to run-out the clock).  I don't think a bet on the Lions is an unreasonable bet with 4.5 points.

Nah. They certainly won't be winning the division. And Packers, Vikings or Bears have a better chance at WC than Lions. :p

Plus Saints, Panthers, Bucs, Seahawks, Rams, 49ers, Eagles? - all still more likely at a Wild Card spot.

A lot of games to be played -- Lions beat the Eagles in Philly though (Packers lost to the Eagles at home)...  We'll know better after two more weeks (Packers/Vikings).

They've been so bad for so long that no one gives them any credit for anything.  Who knows, this year may actually be different.
