I think there's a bit of confusion here, so let me see if I can clarify.

When CP2077 launches on November 19 (and I'll believe that when I see it!), there will be SKUs for both the PS5 and XBSX that are separate from the SKUs for the PS4/XB1 as those consoles would either have released already or be releasing soon thereafter.  These versions of the game will definitely be "better" than the PS4/XB1 versions, but they won't be the "true" next-gen versions of the game.  That "true" next-gen version will be patched into the PS5/XBSX SKUs at some point in 2021.

That may be true to an extent in Sony's case, but doing that for Xbox would completely contradict this whole "Smart Delivery" thing that Microsoft has been touting for months now. As far as MS is concerned, I can easily see it being a single SKU with two different packages, depending on which console you're downloading from. At launch it will only be the back-compat XBO version, but as soon as the next-gen versions are released, your copy on the XSX would get updated.

That's always been the tone - to fuck shit up in the future, aggressively, at least in the trailers.

Oh...

Well, color me surprised, I didn't expect Sci-Fi GTA V at all for some reason. The gameplay looks great though, especially the FPS segments.

Also, I haven't played one of these 'big fucking sandbox open world' type games in many years by now really so I'm ready for one and this'll probably be it.

I think in November there will only be the Xbox One and PS4 version, both which will play on the PS5/XSX at whatever max resolution and frame rate those consoles will allow through their boosted modes.

The XSX and PS5 skus will release 2021.

Yeah, the first real trailer was pretty aggressive (E3 2018), and ends with the player character loading up guns, getting into a fast car, and talking about becoming anything they want in the city.

I dig it but yeah. It's basically cyberpunk/Blade Runner on steroids. I imagine if you do a peaceful/stealth playthrough, you could get more of the noir cyberpunk vibe of Blade Runner rather than it on steroids but Cyberpunk 2077 is a different IP and so skews differently.

I must've conveniently forgotten about this or not watched it or a combo of both. This is 100% Bro Runner but after the initial surprise...ah...whatever. I'll replay the last few Deus Ex games for Blade Runner-ish atmosphere.

Yeah, I added this to me previous post as well: It's basically cyberpunk/Blade Runner on steroids. I imagine if you do a peaceful/stealth playthrough, you could get more of the noir cyberpunk vibe of Blade Runner rather than it on steroids but Cyberpunk 2077 is a different IP and so skews differently. It's definitely going for a different vibe than the new Deus Ex games, which I also love. That's a more thoughtful, quieter take than this.

I'm fairly certain that if you're using a PS5 to access the PlayStation Store, you will be restricted to purchasing that version.

But is there going to be an actual PS5 version for sale? The earlier post made it seem like they are just making sure the PS4 version is nice/compatible.

Hands-on previews from gaming sites (written and YouTube):

After 4 thrilling hours in Cyberpunk 2077's massive open world, I'm hungry for more (PC Gamer)

Quote

On the outskirts of Night City lie the Badlands. This vast expanse of barren desert, Joshua trees, and low, sloping hills is scattered with dried-up oil fields, heaps of scrap, and rough, isolated towns. Old tarmac roads—built long ago before the world went to shit—criss-cross the landscape, partially buried in sand. And far in the distance, through a dusty blue haze, I can just about see the monolithic skyscrapers and holographic billboards of the city. But that comes later. For now, I'm stuck in this backwater no man's land.

Cyberpunk 2077 features three distinct life paths, which determine your starting area and your relationship with the world. I'm given the choice to play as a street kid, a corporate agent, or a wandering nomad. I choose the latter and find myself in a dingy garage in one of those remote Badlands towns, staring into a filthy mirror. I tear a patch from my leather jacket, the emblem of the Nomad gang I used to run with—a lifestyle change I'll learn more about later in the game. I'm a lone wolf now. Well, I would be if my car would start.

Four hours with Cyberpunk 2077 (PCGamesN)

Quote

Cyberpunk 2077 has some of the best bars in videogames. You can find them tucked away in practically every borough of the megapolis of Night City. There’s the legendary Afterlife, a meeting place for the mercenary elite buried beneath the brutalist architecture of Watson’s Kabuki district. It’s brightly lit so local celebrities can be seen, the music is quiet enough to allow for conversation, and private booths comprise its perimeter. It’s the Cyberpunk equivalent of a Sunset Strip celebrity haunt.

Cyberpunk 2077’s mind-bending character progression systems explained (Polygon)

Quote

Exactly how do the customization and progression systems work, though? After four hours of hands-on time with Cyberpunk 2077, I found these systems to be enormously versatile but also somewhat overwhelming to wrap my brain around. I think I finally have a handle on it, though.

Cyberpunk 2077 hands-on – every video game you’ve ever played in one cybernetically-enhanced package (VG2 24/7)

Quote

I’ve just been shot in the head, execution-style. It’s a convenience store stick-up gone horribly wrong, and my character doesn’t even have time to scream before the screen whites out. Then the view snaps back to reality and I’m still alive. The protagonist, V, screams, ripping off future-tech virtual reality apparatus, hyperventilating.

This is the nature of Night City, the setting of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt’s latest massive RPG. People hop into full-immersion virtual reality headsets containing snuff movies, recorded through the cybernetically-enhanced eyeballs of the victims. If that’s not your thing, the same vendors will be happy to load up some porn. Naturally.

Cyberpunk 2077 Is Complex And Overwhelming, But It Works (Kotaku)

Quote

Cyberpunk 2077 didn’t quite click with me until I met Certo.

In a recent demo with the Cyberpunk 2077 devs, I was guiding my character, an urban mercenary and hacker, through her neighborhood when I was stopped by a local boxing coach near his outdoor gym. He had history with my character, apparently, and needed someone to test out the new practice robot he had purchased. My performance prompted the coach to explain that there were opportunities for competent street fighters to make some cash around the sprawling metropolis of Night City, where most of Cyberpunk is set. All I had to do was defeat other hopefuls in unsanctioned matches as a form of self-promotion.

We played Cyberpunk 2077 for four hours, here's what we think (Eurogamer)

Quote

It's frustrating that the first chance to play Cyberpunk 2077 is not in the flesh but remotely, streamed from somebody else's PC. But there's a pandemic so a press event can't happen, and this is what we've got. And you know what? The tech's not bad. The video image is compressed but it's still a stunning game, and while there's a bit of input lag, it's negligible. It's surprisingly playable, and so I play for four hours from the very beginning of the game.

And I tell you this: there's a lot more going on in Cyberpunk 2077 than The Witcher 3. Night City is an overwhelming place. There are no quaint little villages like White Orchard with gentle rolling hills on the horizon to ease you in. There's one big city stuffed with huge buildings, and the labyrinthine alleyways and the dirty streets beneath them.

Hands-on with Cyberpunk 2077: Freedom, master world-building, and customisable genitalia (GamesRadar+)

Quote

From this very first hands-on with Cyberpunk 2077, which saw me play through the opening four or so hours of the game, it's clear that CD Projekt Red isn't shying away from building a living world once again, but this time it's doing it on a bigger scale than ever before with Night City. This is a bustling metropolis oozing with neon and danger that has its own rhythms and life outside of what you're doing as V. I spent a little too much time watching civilians meander down the street (with a refreshing array of realistic body types, I might add) and staring at strangers having conversations that I could interrupt if I so chose, or just wandering around watching various side-missions, bounties, and other activities pop up like some kind of urban acne breakout.

Cyberpunk 2077 character creation tools are the closest we've got to diverse human representation (GamesRadar+)

Quote

I never expected to see a gently jiggling penis so early on in Cyberpunk 2077. Later on, probably after a few Johnny Silverhand cocktails in Afterlife, sure. But before the credits have even rolled? Sounds like a ballsy (pun intended) move for CD Projekt Red. But, actually, it's not. That undulating penis is a huge part of just how inclusive the Cyberpunk 2077 character creation options are - or not so big, depending on your choices.

Cyberpunk 2077 Hands-On Preview: What We Think After 4 Hours in Night City (IGN)

Quote

After playing the first four hours of Cyberpunk 2077, It’s tough to know where to begin. No, literally: you’re offered three “origin story” choices for your V, no matter what physical appearance you choose or how you allocate your initial allotment of skill points. You can start the Nomad life on the outskirts of Night City, be the Street Kid who slums it in the urban jungle, or begin as the connected Corporate goon navigating the skyscrapers and sky-high risks of Arasaka’s cutthroat company politics. I chose the latter in order to put myself right in the thick of Night City from the jump (meanwhile, IGN’s Miranda Sanchez chose Nomad if you’d like to read about her experience), and what I quickly learned is that no matter where you start, there are so many layers to Cyberpunk 2077 that even a four-hour hands-on session isn’t enough time to scratch the surface of any of it – in a good way! But I nevertheless learned a lot about what makes Cyberpunk special – as well as what it still needs to work on between now and its new November 19 release date.

Cyberpunk 2077's Smaller Stories Have The Potential To Hit Harder Than The Main One (Gamespot)

Quote

It should come as no surprise that the team behind The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is making another rich and detailed world, but there's a huge difference between watching blades of grass dance in the wind as the warm glow of the sun emerges over distant trees, and being in the middle of a city bathed in blinding neon lights that's also screaming thumping bass and ear-piercing guitar riffs at you at every turn. In Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red trades natural serenity for the overwhelming, furious progression of technology. We're not in Kansas anymore: This is Tokyo turned up to 20.

Nevertheless, Night City was impressive to behold. It has a raw, grimy kind of majesty, and the sensory overload hits the moment you walk out into its bustling streets. It's a cacophony of chattering citizens, a barrage of lights, a constant hum of music, invasive advertising, distant sounds of gunfire, strange cars whizzing by, unsavory characters just looking for a reason to start trouble, and helpless people calling out for aid. It's a place that makes you feel completely out of sorts and instills an odd sense of discomfort, but also beckons you to unlock the potential it holds. From the very outset, as an up-and-coming merc named V, you're told that it's a city of dreams where legends are born, and that's exactly what you hope to become.

Diving Deep Into The First Hours Of Cyberpunk 2077 (Game Informer)

Quote

Cyberpunk 2077 recently pushed out its release date by a couple of months, and will now launch on November 19. While the version of the game we played already showed great promise, there’s no doubt that the team is using these extra months to polish moment-to-moment gameplay and knock out remaining bugs. With only one afternoon in a game that will no doubt offer dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of potential playtime, it was challenging to get a complete picture of progression, gameplay flow, and the feel of gunplay and combat as new perks and weapons unlock. Nonetheless, I came out of my demo time blown away by the scope of what CD Projekt Red is attempting with the game, and similarly impressed by the depth of its RPG systems. This is a rich and nuanced game well worth the long wait we’ve had to play it. If you’ve been wondering if the game can really be as big and complex as early looks have implied, our time playing made it abundantly clear that the game really is an especially ambitious and massive game – now it’s just a matter of seeing how the final version comes together.

Our Five Biggest Takeaways From Our Four Hours With CD Projekt Red's Massive Action/RPG (Game Informer)

Quote

We went hands-on with the game for four hours to see how it was shaping up and walked away astounded by the ambitious scope and vast gameplay flexibility. While we ended our time feeling like we barely scratched the surface of this massive endeavor, we did get a sense of what to expect. Here are our biggest takeaways from our hands-on demo, which allowed us to experience the prologue, see life paths for player character V, play through a story mission, and check out some of the activities in the world.

Cyberpunk 2077 lets you choose between two penises, one vagina, and five types of pubic hair (PCGamesN)

Quote

There is no gender selection in Cyberpunk 2077. Instead, feminine and masculine traits are cosmetic, so, as Polygon notes, you can match a traditionally masculine voice with a traditionally feminine body, or vice versa. Genitals are a separate option even beyond that – you can choose to have a vagina or one of two penises (circumcised or uncircumcised).

There’s also a penis size slider and a selection of five types of pubic hair, as a separate preview from Kotaku AU details. If for whatever reason you’re not interested in staring at your character’s junk, you can also just keep nudity turned off.

Increasing your Character Level can grant you an Attribute Point (how often you get these is still being tweaked). With these Attribute Points, you can increase one of the five main stats in the game: Body, Reflex, Intelligence, Technical Ability, and yes, Cool. In typical D&D terms, the first three equate to Strength, Dexterity, and, well, Intelligence. Technical Ability ties into hacking, while Cool impacts critical damage and stealth.

Time to make Zero Cool!

You should know better than this by now... if you cannot make your character look like a conventionally attractive white woman in porn, that will be priority 1 for modders.

• The player is nearly always in control of the camera, even during dialogue scenes
• There is a lot of dialogue
• It is nothing like Grand Theft Auto
• There are a ton of customization options

• You don't feel like the centre of the universe
• Companions are actually useful in combat
• Characters weren't heard speaking repeated lines of dialogue
• Your UI is determined by what enhancements you have equipped
• There are a lot of likeable characters in the game, definitely less edgy than previous demos
• The side characters are very interesting
• The open-world is stunning. Everyone gushes about the world design, atmosphere and lived-in look and feel of it
• The game doles out a lot of interesting lore while being very subtle and casual with it
• There are no lore dumps given to the player - everything is experienced or sought-out by the player
• The world is very well fleshed out and believable

• Lot of focus on verticality
• There is fall damage
• There are children in the game. You cannot kill them
• When selecting Corpo as a Life Path, you begin the game at Arasaka Tower

• Judy Alvarez is the Braindance tech at Lizzy's Bar
• The weather effects are stunning
• The lighting effects are next-level
• The Maelstrom Flathead mission played similar to the old demo - except that Royce isn't given the chip and he shot him in the head, so no boss fight since...he's dead. The original Maelstrom gang leader is in the building somewhere

• The No-Tell Motel is in the game
• There are so many choices and options that it feels overwhelming; before you learn to take things in stride

• Choices feel meaningful and not just fluff. There is a palpable weight to your choices
• Character models are impressive - but nothing Earth-shatteringly next-level
• The world feels alive - living and breathing. This is due to the atmosphere, NPC animations/ chatter and the lighting & textures

• Vehicles all have unique interiors

  • Thanks 3

Alanah Pierce said that the in one missions mini boss was swayed to join her and then what should have been a boss fight for her turned into a NPC vs Boss fight

She also did a side mission where you pick up a guy from  a dick enlargement surgery gone wrong and she had to drive the guy to the ER

I actually don't care for stuff like this in non-porn games. Just like, I don't give a fuck about soft core porn scenes in movies, show, and video games. I actually prefer fade to black.

Is this true or are there those "totally not a loading screen" loading screen?

Not sure how I feel about the first two things, but I generally don't like companions in non-bioware games.

I don't care for this. I don't care for Keanu getting in either.  I don't really like when the "real-world" slips into gaming.

I have seen people talk about the driving before. I really hope they get it fixed. Shitty vehicles can hurt games big time.

BIG DOUBT

Not really talked about, but as a Straight White Male(cis-scum:p) I'd like to identify as that if possible. I always play a straight white dude in everything that I can and have zero desire to choose otherwise. Even in WoW, with like 14 other fantasy races, like 90% of my characters are human dudes, all with the same face.

What exactly this this mean? I don't remember the Witcher 3 feeling bad in the movement department. And this game is first person. Movement is totally different.

So this is unclear for Xbox sort of, at least when it comes to smart delivery but confirms sony has a crappier version.

Sony: Buy the PS4 game and the PS4 version is backwards compatible on the PS5 (But you're essentially playing the PS4 version on a PS5)

Microsoft: Buy the Xbone version and get the Xboxsex version as an upgrade (I thought that was what smart delivery was) but seems unclear from this wording.
