Do you ever stop and think to yourself, 'I wonder what Inuk is doing right this moment?'

Someone is feeling a bit lazy today.

I just popped in here to get my fix of an adorable mush of a dog and saw the whole health crisis!

Glad to see he pulled through and that your buddy is still at your side.

On a totally different note, how do you deal with such a massive dog in an apartment with people (presumably) below you? Is he calm enough to where it's not an issue or anything? I've always wanted a dog but apartment living always made me not go for it.

His entire "health crisis" turned out to be a longer than normal reaction to the opioid-based sedative he was given to have some x-rays taken.  Let's just say that we read the riot act to the vet clinic that failed to inform us that as an older dog his recovery from the sedative might take somewhat longer.

Inuk has always lived in an apartment since he was a puppy and as a malamute, his disposition is naturally calmer/lazier than most dog breeds, so that's why it's never been an issue for him.

FWIW, even my Aussie does great in our roughly 600 sq. ft. apartment. He goes to daycare to burn off lots of energy while I'm at work (30,000+ steps per day on average, according to his tracker collar) but he also is naturally very mellow; he has the energy to burn, but isn't antsy or anxious.

This is all to say, I think that if you possibly can make it work, you will absolutely love having a dog, even in an apartment. Dogs are the best!

I haven't seriously considered it just yet because with work I haven't been able to but I'll be working from home three days per week starting soon so...
