Holy shit, Resident Evil 2 is releasing in one week

Despite my childlike hype levels for the Resi 2 Remake I somehow didn't realize this was releasing January 25th already! FUCK. YES.

I haven't bought a game Day 1 in quite some time but this is it. I'm quitting my job, getting a divorce, selling the cats for Doritos and Mountain Dew, buying some absurd gaming chair and it'll be on. Thank you Baby Jesus, seriously.

HOLY SHIT THEN IT'S DEVIL MAY CRY 5 ON MARCH 5 AND SEKIRO ON MARCH 22!!!!!!

Probably my most anticipated game of the past two years. RE's been my jam since '96.

I've also been on media blackout too so I don't get any of the "new" stuff spoiled.

Only a few more weeks...

Let me tell you, it looks ridiculously good and I was incredibly skeptical.

Getting the Deluxe Edition for the OG soundtrack.

Capcom seems to just be killing it as a whole this gen. I feel many Japanese developers fell behind during the HD transition, but I've quite enjoyed and been excited for more of their games than last gen. And Capcom, in particular, has really been killing it in their Q1/Q2 releases.

Last thread I saw this mentioned in was pretty lukewarm on it, so I’m glad to see some excitement for it.

I’m pretty stoked for it, but I’d like to have Red Dead and Dragon Quest done by then, which is a tall order.

For some reason I’ve been tempted to restart Breath of the Wild recently as well, and I don’t know why lol.

I thought RE7 was certainly a major step in the right direction, but not quite there yet. Not sure what else I bought/played by Capcom actually the past few years? I skipped SFV due to it's utterly bullshit state at release and I'm not supporting that nonsense.

RE2 and DMCV though, Day 1 on both of them. They both look on top of their game level fantastic to me.

Q1 in general is absurd for my usual standards already actually...three Day 1 purchases. And there is so much  more incredibly promising shit on the horizon, phew.

SFV has its issues but it plays really well and the netcode is pretty good.

But Monster Hunter World was an awesome iteration of that game, their game collections have been really good, Mega Man 11 was excellent, RE7 was just a great surprise after several trash releases in that franchise. Combine that with this remake and some other upcoming stuff and they’ve just really been putting out appealing games.

SFV has really evolved and is just an incredibly fun game. Additional story mode was a nice addition.

I loved RE7, and Monster Hunter World released earlier this year.

I really have a stick up my ass about SFV to be honest. It's petty, but the fact they shipped such a bare bones bullshit product for full price upon release that didn't even include an Arcade mode...just no, keep it, my single-player self will just play the fifty billion other amazing Street Fighter titles again.

Monster Hunter World really still interests me but I'm a bit worried about what a time sink it'll be honestly. I can only afford like one or two games of that magnitude per year time-wise. Looks awesome though.

It was worth buying for me once they introduced the story mode for free. With the arcade edition, it's one of the best ones and it's a good buy if you want to show that you want content in your purchase since you were one of many who waited after the better bones launch.

You're also a more reasonable, balanced human being than myself. I somehow have a scorned mobster mentality against Capcom for doing me like that on SFV.

The DMC5 demo didn't thrill me. I'll be picking that one up on the cheap sometime down the road.

In its defense, from what I saw they gave you the bare bones set of moves to work with which in DMC3 for example feels boring and awkward until you get to buy some essentials.

Unlike SFV, I actually have a pro-DMC agenda so I'll pick that up Day 1.

DMC 5 is so GODDAMN METAL. It is the Mandy of video games and I cannot wait for it. You are either on its wavelength or you aren't, like all DMC games.

Also can't wait for RE2 and Sekiro. Curious about Anthem.

I just think DMC games will demo like shit and that's unfortunate. The bottom line is that just moving gracefully and quickly is a skill on its own in DMC and takes a bit of time to get down. I love that about it but every time I go back to DMC3 after a few years, it always takes me a bit to get back into the groove of things.

I think Sekiro is going to be the real fucking deal, no doubt in my mind. It looks like the best aspects of the first Tenchu, Bloodborne and Ninja Gaiden all in one and the specifically name-dropped Dark Souls 1 for the world design. I can't even wait man...

I don't trust demos, and we'll see what reviews bring, but DMC as a game series is unique and to finally get a sequel to DMC 4 (and technically chronologically the first one finally set after DMC 2) after 10 years is awesome

I don't trust demos after the last few years myself actually. I bashed Prey after playing the demo and it ended up being one of my favorite games of the past few years for example.

I just think in general that a game like DMC that is pure skill-based gameplay will demo awkwardly.

that very well may be true, but it seems stupid to release a boring demo. Isn't the point to get people excited for the game. That being said I've enjoyed the crap out of the other game sin the series so I know I will get it eventually. It's just that demo killed any excitement I had.

I totally agree with you if you read my other posts on the subject. That's 100% on Capcom and not the consumer for not wanting to buy the product after a lame demo.

I'll never understand why games that heavily rely on upgrades etc. don't get rolled out as demos with a fairly upgraded character and so on. It's dumb to me. That combined with massive Day 1 patches that fix major issues and other nonsense have made me really weary of demos this gen after nearly missing several killer games due to it.

Really excited for this one. Footage looks great, engine is a known quantity for being good, and as someone who barely touched Resident Evil 2, this seems a great way to play it for the first time. (I only ever made it to the police station and was bored by how similar it seemed to RE1.)

I know you'd be missing the nostalgia factor but the original OST is amazing. The Deluxe Edition has an option to play with it enabled and I'd highly suggest getting that based on the seemingly lacking base soundtrack.

there have definitely been some games where I hated the demo then ended up trying the final product and absolutely loving the game. do developers not have regular people try their demos before they push them out? People who have been working on the game forever and know what is to come can't be impartial when judging the merits of a demo

It's happening again where I want to buy this game, but I've never finished a RE game. I think RE4 is the only game that I've made it more than half way.

The gameplay looks interesting, but will it have the archaic controls of the past? If it does I'll probably pass or pick it up on sale.
