Argentina’s next president is a libertarian economist whose brash style and embrace of conspiracy theories has parallels with Donald J. Trump.

 

Several videos on my youtube feed have popped up recently which detailed how much of Argentina's potential has been effectively squandered over the last century.  After being controlled by mostly Peronists or those who closely aligned with that ideology for 70 years, it will be interesting to see if Milei will have any success turning the country around.

My understanding was that there was nothing leftist about his opponent in this election. And that this dude who won is REALLY out there:

There have been right-wing Peronists and left-wing Peronists, but at its heart, Peronism is very much a "populist" ideology that appears to be malleable to the point where it could easily be described as "Peronism is whatever you want it to be" as illustrated by its wikipedia page description:
