#ReleaseTheSnyderCut was, predictably, fake bullshit

Is there any chance that we’re approaching a point where social media movements by and large get ignored?  Do we hit a saturation point where corporations are so tired of being trolled that they just disregard it overall?

I have a feeling that companies will be watching any publicly-released analysis or data regarding the prevalence of bots from the Musk/Twitter lawsuit very carefully just for this reason alone.

My first thought was who would put in the effort to actually do something like that, and the answer seems to be a combination of at least one crazy guy with access to the right resources and Snyder himself.

Alethea Group, found that the forsnydercut.com domain — which claims to have made the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut hashtag go viral in May of 2018, and became the landing hub for efforts to bring Snyder back to the helm of the DC universe — was, at least at one point, registered to a person who also ran a now-defunct ad agency which promoted its ability to bring “cheap, instant Avatar traffic to your website.”

Rolling Stone spoke with more than 20 people involved with both the original Justice League and Snyder’s cut, most of whom believe that the director was working to manipulate the ongoing campaign. Snyder claims that, “if anyone” was pulling strings on the social media fervor, it was Warner Bros. “trying to leverage my fan base to bolster subscribers to their new streaming service.” But one source maintains, “Zack was like a Lex Luthor wreaking havoc.”

My second thought is that I'd love to see the internal metrics for the Snyder cut on HBO Max. Sure, they might have just been curious about exactly what happened with all this, but I'm guessing that someone looked at the ROI for that $100M and wasn't impressed.

The overwhelming majority was from real people, which I would have not expected from the thread title. That is sad

I may have missed it, but I read that 13% of accounts were fake, but I didn’t see a breakdown of of what percentage of the posts were from that 13%.  If every real user posted 10 times on average and every fake person posted 1,000 times on average that’s a much different story.

Incorrect. Like Michael Bay it’s become the cool kid thing to hate everything he does. But there’s some solid good fun in his filmography.

No he just consistently blows ass. Bay movies are destruction porn romps and are good at what they attempt to do. Snyder loses the plot as soon as anything he’s shooting is longer than a trailer.

So I guess we ain’t getting that Ayer Director’s Cut of Suicide Squad now :( Anything, and I mean anything, would make that movie better. The only good things out of that was that they nailed Amanda Waller and I enjoyed our new Magnum P.I. and his storyline as Diablo.

What about Margot Robbie?
