It will be a tough race between him and the Rock.

Nah, he’ll pick Woody Harrelson for his VP and run against some dude with scars on his face who lives on a farm with vaguely Lovecraftian overtones.

(if you haven’t seen True Detective season 1 you haven’t seen the best of McConaughey)

He’ll drink through all of his interviews so they won’t be admissible in court.

It’s actually wild how far he’s come as an actor. He was always the “rom com” guy, and him actually taking a stand and doing lesser known films put him on the map as a serious actor.

He literally said in an interview once that he "chose" to become a good actor and to do good films (hence the Mccounaissance for awhile there) because he wanted to make his kids proud.

Meaning he could have done this all along but just didn't feel like it lol. You see it in some of his early work like U-571 and Reign of Fire and that John Grisham adaptation and Amistad.

That totally makes sense, though. If acting is just a way to make money for you or you're like Nicholas Cage and probably owe some loan shark millions, anything will do the trick. Sounds like he jumped over to more serious stuff once he had enough money, was able to be picky because of it, and actually started caring about his legacy...at least as it relates to his kids.

As far as politicians running in Texas who might actually have a chance of winning an election and getting semi-decent legislation passed, he's still one of the best options.  Which of course says more about the Texas political landscape than anything :p

It definitely makes sense, I just find it very amusing he could have been gunning for Oscars this whole time. :p
