Several stations near me had to close because they were completely out of gas. It’s getting pretty bad over here in NC.

It's the same in north Georgia. There isn't a station near me with anything other than diesel.

Did you get the plug-in Pacifica?

I did not, I got the hybrid Sienna. I don't really trust that Chrysler makes vehicles to last as this is the last ICE vehicle (the last vehicle period if it were up to me) I intend to own. Having driven both I prefer the overall feel of the Sienna from drivability to features and perceived quality.

I seen gas prices where spiking here and was thinking that doesn't make sense. Than I remember it is Armed Forces weekend in my town and the 40-60 cent/gal spike was due local stations' collusion to milk everyone for as much as they can. The only time of year it is worth day the 140+ mile round trip to get gas in another town.

Any word if this is going to spread to more states or for how long? I have to get gas every 2 to 3 days for my business. This will be a much bigger problem for me than Covid was if it reaches PA and lasts a while.

The longer it goes the more crunch you’ll see elsewhere as resources get rerouted, but the markets most directly served by this pipeline will remain the worst affected.

It'll be over in a week if people didn't freak the fuck out

The right thing to do is to raise the price of gas to discourage hoarding.  Maybe double the price after 10 gallons, and triple the price after 15 gallons.

Or we can just cap the amount per fill-up, just like how last year many stores put a cap on how much toilet paper you could buy

How do we punish the poors without surge pricing though?
