Россия invades Україна | UPDATE (30 May 2024) - Biden gives Ukraine permission to strike some targets inside Russia with American weapons

Just incredible. Since before 2014 Ukraine has wanted this and Russia has not. Russia's actions have directly led to this.

I'm very interested in how the EU is going to send arms to Ukraine. Josep Borrell Fontelles was very coy about this. Especially the fighter jets. Will they be flown by Ukrainian pilots? Will they be linked to NATO systems (the AWACS operating over Poland/Romania)? Will they be based in Ukraine?

Edit - likely not a field nuke, so you’d think it’s thermobaric but that doesn’t look like the explosions I’ve seen from those weapons before. 🤔

I think the most terrifying part is the absolute silence after the detonation. Waiting for the blast wave to reach you.

Despite that dude's idiotic and nearly indecipherable Tweet about Millennials and nukes most of us on this board that are 40 give or take remember growing up in the 80's and so still got a taste of what the Cold War was like.

So for me explosions like that still trigger a gut reaction not of fear of a concussion blast or burning....but of nuclear fallout that would melt you from the inside after seemingly surviving the blast.

Very stupid question... when they say Russians are going after / Russian banks are running out of "dollars" do they mean USD or a generic term for cash?

USD.

I just want to say thanks to all you guy updating this thread. It's been my primary source. I'm not really much for Twitter, so I appreciate y'all posting them here.

While I'm horrified by these events, I feel a sort of sympathetic patriotism for the Ukrainian people. The resistance they're putting up is heartening.

And while there have been some slip-ups, I think the board's been doing a good job trying to post relevant tweets, accurate tweets, etc.
