  1. Yeah... I'm skeptical. I do 90% of my gaming on my Xbox and it sounds great in theory, but I plan on getting a Series X day one and if Series X games are gimped to run on XBO then it's going to show, no matter what fancy bells and whistles you lay over it. It's not really the same thing as PC development, where developers can make the game they want to make and then set their own minimum system requirements. Here, MS is forcing them to a minimum system requirement, even if it might compromise their creative vision. I can see games like Forza being far more scalable and not really affecting anything, but a game like Halo Infinite will have to have the geometry designed with the base XBO in mind, so as to keep a fair playing field in PVP. That's where things are going to get interesting. Regardless, if Sony has developers making games that only work on PS5, it's easy to think they'll look much better than anything MS is forcing the developers to limit themselves on. C'mon MS, you were finally on the right track, don't shoot yourselves in the foot again. EDIT: After thinking about it some more, it's all about the Game Pass. It would be interesting to see how they would portray a compartmentalized Game Pass, where base XBO owners could play some games, but not others. It could definitely be done, but I don't know if that's the image MS wants for now. Maybe a year or two after launch they will slowly phase out support for the XBO.
  2. Atari 2600. It was technically my brother's, though. I guess the first console that was actually mine was the NES.
  3. Developers have got to have dev kits of both by now. I know Sony got theirs out sooner, but since MS has already got a form factor and Phil Spencer says he's already been playing his at home, some devs have got to have kits by now. I realize that dev kits can change as console specs change, but there's got to be a ballpark on each of these by now. It's only a matter of time before the developers start whispering to the media.
  4. Was the quality of that trailer intentionally shitty? What am I looking at? I know nothing about this.
  5. You mean like how Nintendo scrapped the Virtual Console, in exchange for Nintendo Online?
  6. You're not the only one. I definitely think Halo Infinite will be a Destiny clone.
  7. I'll give them credit; they didn't wuss out over potentially having their system dubbed "The Piss". Though they did take care to make the five look as little like an S as possible. Long live The Piss!
  8. Well it's kind of a given that MS will model some of their games to be service based, since they want to keep players invested in Game Pass. Forza Horizon 4 has already gone that route. I can also see the name "Infinite" being a clever way to indicate that the next Halo will be an on-going GaaS. I also wouldn't be surprised if Fable goes this route as well. That being said, I can't see too many established franchises changing just because there's a new console cycle. If they were going to go that route, I think they'd be there already. Just look at AC Odyssey.
  9. Part of me wants to say that it was due to being a launch title. Hopefully future releases will come with a better handling of the hardware.
  10. They would really need to rebuild the entire combat system. Which they were in the process of doing back in the Xbox 360 days but it just wasn't coming together and they figured their time/money would be better spent on Witcher 2. Which was a good call, in hindsight. Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 should not have been possible. It would be really cool if they resurrected that old project and adapted the OG Witcher to consoles though.
  11. Huh. That makes the name Aperture Science Lab make a lot more sense, actually.
  12. Any games that are really going to push the graphical limits of the Switch are probably going to be available for other platforms anyway. I think I'll be fine with my Gen 1 model.
  13. I think of Cult classics as movies that not just got popular after their release, but gained a dedicated fanbase over time. Movies like Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Princess Bride, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. But then you also have things like Clerks and Jay and Silent Bob where their cult following is more to the universe and characters than the actual movies themselves. Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes just got stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. Fucking Jay "Clit Master" Mewes is on the Hollywood walk of fame. Let that sink in. That said, my favorites are: Night of the Living Dead Army of Darkness Clerks Nightmare Before Christmas Dead Alive Big Trouble in Little China Cheech n Chong Up In Smoke
  14. I was one of those that moved to badcartridge from IGN during that whole IGN Prime subscription bullshit when they locked off the good boards. There was no way in hell i was moving over to the Vesti. Those were dark times, Harry. Dark times. Edit:omg somebody upvote me. I have the mark of the beast! The beeeeeeast!
  15. We visited Arizona last summer. Coming from South Texas where it was 103 with 90% humidity, your 115 with 10% felt like a Fall afternoon.
  16. At least the controller will finally have a share button. I used to use the programmable buttons on the chat pad but then i got a charging dock. Thus, the chatpad came off and stayed off. Plus the passthrough for the headset on the chatpad is shite and introduces a ton of white noise. It'll be nice to have a dedicated button finally, since both the PS4 and Switch already do. Even though i never use the PS4's cuz it's a laggy piece of crap that always misses the moment.
  17. Another year and they still haven't banned fireworks. They scare the shit out of my pets, trigger people's PTSD, make a shit ton of trash, and oh yeah, burn people's houses down. But hey, they look pretty! For two seconds!
  18. I'm usually too poor to buy games when they come out anyway, and have to wait for a significant price drop or sale before I can purchase something. By that time there's a good chance they're on Game Pass. So I guess yeah, it kinda does affect my spending habits, but it's not like I would be buying much anyway. I'm probably a bad example, since GP was pretty much designed for broke bastards like me. That said, if I'm anticipating a game enough, I'll save up for it and get it day one. A good example was Resident Evil 2. I skipped a few lunches for that one.
