Bernie Sanders briefed by U.S. officials that Russia is trying to help his presidential campaign

But Bernie also continues to staff and employ as surrogates people who seek to divide the electorate, making his campaign a lightning rod for that interference. I don't think he's malicious but I worry that, on this, he's devastatingly ignorant.

What should he do to combat it though?

Why would Russia want Bernie as the Democratic nominee? Is it just to sow divide amongst voters, and because of Bernie-Bros? The kind of voters that are "Bernie or bust", that if he doesn't become the nominee they just won't vote, allowing Trump to win another 4 years?

Why would the GOP want Sanders? Same reasons?

(I have not read the article yet

And what next, because that's not exactly a criticism valid just for Sanders.

To the level that Sanders has taken it to? Even just Sirota on his own would be bad enough but he doesn't have a single high profile surrogate or staffer that isn't divisive by nature. Honestly clearing out his staff would be enough for me; his choice of employee is actually the biggest thing that seriously concerns me about a Sanders presidency. I don't like the people he picks and the pattern is worrisome.

Pretty much.

There are mountains of video and other media where Sanders is extolling the virtues of socialism and central planning.  The GOP has all of that.  And they are going to release ads with these clips non-stop between the convention and election day.

If I ever ran a campaign, I'd actually hire a staff that actively loathed me and I'd reciprocate the feeling for them.

I think that would be an interesting, workable dynamic.  It would be a twist on the "team of rivals" concept that I'd call a "team of nemeses".

They probably wouldn't work for you though. They'd turn down the job offer.

Getting him on screen with Russians isn't a big deal, and the gop will smear whomever the nominee is

Anyway, back to this abortion of a thread.

I suppose the GOP could frame Warren or Buttigieg as Russian stooges, but you wouldn't have much to back that claim up.  However,  with all of the video of Sanders praising central planning and despotic socialist dictators, it's going to be easy for the public to connect the dots.

THIS is Sanders biggest weakness.  If people can't see this then they are blind.

None of that matters to anybody that feeds into that sort of propaganda. Fox and right wing publications will hammer these stories and other conspiracy theories into a bloody pulp. We just have to acknowledge that nobody ingesting news from there outlets isn't actually an undecided. These folks were always going to either vote Trump or not vote at all. There is zero reason to try to reach out to them. Trump is such a wildly extreme president, there's literally no reason for anyone being undecided on this year's election. Anyone that says otherwise is lying to themselves and everyone around them.

I have to say that the Kremlin's ROI on their troll farm operations is truly impressive - they get a pretty good outcome of political instability/destabilization in the United States for the cost of practically nothing, just some kids in a basement in St. Petersburg.

And all because Americans of all political persuaions are so incredibly fucking stupid to allow it to be impactful.

I love all the never-Bernie lefties on Twitter foaming at the mouth about "WHY DID BERNIE HIDE THIS CLASSIFIED INTELLIGENCE BRIEFING FROM US FOR A WHOLE MONTH?!?!?!"

Then you tell the GOP "You had no problem with Russian backed Trump so you should have no problem with Russian backed Bernie"
