CitizenVectron Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 It's not even fire season yet. The Australian (conservative) government continues to be climate deniers, as coal is a huge industry there. Quote
thewhyteboar Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Capitalism demanded a Fury Road sequel, and here we are. 2 Quote
Xbob42 Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Pfft, fire existed long before man! Checkmate, libtard cucks! Quote
Brick Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Those images and videos are like some apocalyptic nightmare. Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 That ozone hole that usually hits California shifted to Australia. Quote
CitizenVectron Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 EDIT - It should be noted that the scale is way off on those boxes. But the base numbers are accurate (Australian fires 5x the size of Amazon fires, 25x the size of California fires). Quote
chakoo Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 It's amazing people aren't calling for their politicians heads in Australia but I guess everybody is too busy focusing on not dying in a fire first. Quote

I live in western Canada, so I know all too well how politicians can turn resource extraction into patriotism. A public school here had to apologize to the oil industry for having in their Christmas play a message from Santa urging kids to be as green and eco-friendly as possible. Quote
Chairslinger Posted January 2, 2020 Posted January 2, 2020 "This is fine" dog, only pronounce "fine" like it rhymes with "coin" for the Australian accent. Quote

Brick Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Some of those pictures look like they're taken on the surface of Mars. Unreal. Quote
PaladinSolo Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Its just depressing, everyday theres a huge piece of climate news that seems to drop and no real action in sight, its not really news but looking at 10 day forcasts in the NE and seeing just a couple days with lows in the 20s is unheard of this time of year, and more highs in the 40s than 30s is just nuts. Brick Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 Every politician and corporate shill that fight against climate change policies, and denied the science to get where we are should face some sort of prison time. I don't know how, I don't care how. This is unacceptable, and denying climate change at this point is not just stupid, it's evil. The blood of the dead are going to be on their hands as this sort of thing continues. Quote

It is amazing that globally we haven't addressed the climate emergency. I'm not overly keen on movements like the Extinction Rebellion and I wonder, realistically what is the individual impact of climate awareness and action is compared with the lack of action by global powers and companies. Keyser_Soze Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Uh, NSFW I guess Spoiler I’m sending nudes to every person who donates atleast $10 to any one of these fundraisers for the wildfires in Australia. Every $10 you donate = one nude picture from me to your DM. You must send me confirmation that you donated. CitizenVectron Posted January 6, 2020 Author Posted January 6, 2020 I believe a few Canadian waterbombers are also working there now. Quote
Brick Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Speaking of charities and donations, does anyone know a good place to donate to help relief efforts to the fire brigade, people that have lost houses, etc.? I've already donated to one to help save the animals, but I'd like to donate to another. Preferably one that doesn't have a shady past/practices like Red Cross or Salvation Army. Quote
PaladinSolo Posted January 6, 2020 Posted January 6, 2020 Has Trump weighed in about how they just let all the water go into the ocean or how they need to rake their leaves? Quote
