More than 50% of new USPS vehicles will be ELECTRIC thanks to Inflation Reduction Act and USPS Reform, originally was going to be 10%(!)

I think this got lost over the holidays. In Feb 2021, 10% of the new fleet replacing the 30-year-old cars was going to be electric. The 20%. Then 40% after the USPS Reform. Now more than half after the IRA.

WASHINGTON — The United States Postal Service today announced that it expects to acquire at least 66,000 battery electric delivery vehicles as part of its 106,000 vehicle acquisition plan for deliveries between now and 2028. The vehicles purchased as part of this anticipated plan will begin to replace the Postal Service’s aging delivery fleet of over 220,000 vehicles.

The Postal Service said the move has the potential to create one of the largest electric vehicle fleets in the country.

Thank you USPS for making up for me buying a gas car. I'm sorry everyone I thought it was but the sales dude at the dealer didn't even try to upsell me. I'd have paid a bit more for the same car but hybrid. I do feel bad about it honestly. I think it's too late to return it though.
