Will Senate Democrats let Republicans use an arcane Senate ‘tradition’ to block Biden’s judicial nominees?

(this is not good news, republicans already did away with this under trump)

my friend you are in for a treat. not only is he a convicted sex pest (with a ratio of kids to mothers that would make Hershel Walker blush), anti abortion, conservative democrat, but as a stunt he also pulled an unloaded AK-47 from his desk on the floor of the house of delegates during a debate.

He’s got an ad out basically asking republicans to vote in the dem primary for him and saying how pro life he is. 2/3 of the other dems dropped out and endorsed for the third (Jennifer McClellen, amazing pick and should be governor). After Tim Kaine endorsed her it was over for the others.

now that it’s down to two wasserman says she has it but I don’t want to count out fightin joe. The primary is on Tuesday because Youngkin made it about as short a turnaround as possible allowed by law

It’s4 days until voting and they’re still sorting out where all the voting locations are going to be.*

The special election was called by the governor earlier this week and primaries needed to be concluded by the 23rd of December to meet the deadline for the Feb special election (60 days per state law). He could have made the special election in March and given time for the primary to work its way out but instead we had less than 2 weeks from the declaration of the election to select a candidate, including finding polling places and volunteers to man them at the last minute.

*the republicans have one election site open from 10-3 on this tuesday. Dems have multiple and growing numbers of polling locations from 6am to 8pm. Just lmao.

The only solution people seem to have for this country's problems is "Just vote harder!".

Can you name a single time in this country's history that "just voting" has brought any meaningful change? What if Martin Luther King Jr. said, "It's OK, guys, we just need to vote!"?

Have the results been announced yet?  I can't find 'em anywhere!

lol

so they used computer printer paper as ballots and shoved the ballots into bankers boxes taped shut. These will have to be hand counted as e.g. I had to shove my ballot in one of the boxes and it was not an easy fit. Record turnout though! Estimates over 25k voters for this hastily made primary when the regularly scheduled primary in 2016 got about 16k voters.

The civil rights act and the voting rights act were only possible due to voting patterns changing, so, yeah voting harder works.

Maybe I should have said, "Voting by itself has never brought any meaningful change".

It’s definitely the biggest contributor so idk what the point is. Leave falling for “your vote doesn’t matter” to the election denying chuds
