mclumber1
I wonder how this will impact the climate? If it threw up a lot of ash, it could conceivably lower global temperatures by a measurable amount.

CitizenVectron
Tonga lost internet connection, and it sounds like there is little communication with the island. mclumber1
Ash can be good for agriculture. It was at least for Washington state which got hammered from Mount Saint Helens in 1980. Not immediately of course, but the years after were generally good!
Jason
Are the houses still inhabitable after being covered in ash? I'm thinking of how when there's a big fire a house can be condemned just from all the smoke exposure even if the structure didn't catch on fire.
