Fizzzzle Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 I watched the Chronicles of Riddick last night. It's bad. It's full of campy overacting, the fight choreography is shit (it's just jump cuts of guys swinging their arms very slowly), the pacing is really weird.... I've probably seen that movie at least 20 times. When I had cable, it was one of those movies where I'd be scrolling through the guide and say "Oh, Chronicles of Riddick is on," and put it on every time. Mortal Kombat is another one for me. I will never not watch it. Quote
Chris- Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 During college I always had Comedy Central on in the background, so I grew fond of the crappy movies they always played like Waiting... and Employee of the Month. 1 Quote

Exact same thing. For me it's that terrible movie with Dave Chappelle and Norm MacDonald. But in general, there are tons of great bad movies I love. It's a cliche at this point but Showgirls is such a tornado of truly bad taste, I love it. One of the most entertaining terrible movies ever for me. Quote

Fizzzzle Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 My old boss's dad wrote Showgirls. And Basic Instinct 1 and 2. And Flashdance. Something tells me he's probably a bit of an odd duck. And by odd duck I mean I wouldn't invite him to my wedding. 1 Quote

I need more details on this please...how'd you end up working for that guy's son and all? And he's European, he can't control himself. We love trashy Americana. Quote

He ended up working for the same company of his me and became my boss because he's a suckass vampire person. He only works because there's a stipulation in his trust fund that says he has to maintain a job or something. At least that's my theory. He makes barely more than I do and has like 3 houses and 5 cars. Yes I'm jelly, but also he sucks and his dad is probably a pervert. Quote
Bacon Posted March 9, 2021 Posted March 9, 2021 One movie that I like and have seen a few times is John Carter. It isn't bad like some of the other classic bad movies, but I recall a bunch of people not liking it for some reason. Another movie is the Super Mario Bros movie. I haven't seen it over 15+ years but I loved it as a kid. I didn't even realize it was bad. Not sure how "The Wizard" was received but I liked that movie too. Quote

Sounds like Showgirls came from the heart Quote

Fizzzzle Posted March 9, 2021 Author Posted March 9, 2021 I also liked John Carter just fine. Not gonna be on any all-time lists, but it's a perfect movie to have on during a Saturday afternoon when you're bored, or on a flight or something. Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted March 10, 2021 Posted March 10, 2021 Last Action Hero is a favorite of mine. Quote
Fizzzzle Posted March 10, 2021 Author Posted March 10, 2021 Also I feel like there should be a separate scale for "movies on a flight" I can't begin to tell you the amount of Jason statham movies I've seen on flights. I never regret it. Does it mean I think they're good? Absolutely not. Do I regret them and have I watched Jason stathams entire filmography? Give me more and shoot it in my veins. There's nothing to pass the time on a 12 hour flight like a jason statham movie. Quote

heydude93 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 Buffalo 66, because of scenes like this. Waterworld. Story is meh but there's too much going on with the practical effects for it to not be watchable. Quote

thewhyteboar Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 The 13th Warrior has a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes which is obscene. That movie absolutely slaps. Quote

That's one of those movies that I forget exists until someone mentions it. To me, it's.... fine. I don't think it's actively bad, and if it came on TV I would leave it on. Quote

I have a perverse love for Ice-T's utterly terrible acting. He's so endearing lol I also watched that goofy movie with him being hunted by a bunch of rich white guys in the woods way too many times. 1 Quote
Zaku3 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I really enjoyed Van Helsing. The one with Hugh Jackman. I also remember liking League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Quote

Bloodporne Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I watched two Lucio Fulci flicks last night, The Beyond and City of the Living Dead. So terrible but so entertaining Quote
