Voters in Texas received a mysterious text message on Wednesday, one that purported to be from a campaign volunteer for Beto O’Rourke, the Democrat who is running against Ted Cruz for Senate this fall.

“We are in search of volunteers to help transport undocumented immigrants to polling booths so that they will be able to vote,” read the message, which claimed to be from an O’Rourke volunteer named Patsy. “Would you be able to support this grassroots effort?”

Screenshots of the text messages circulated on Twitter on Wednesday. Mr. O’Rourke’s campaign confirmed that the messages were authentic, but a spokesman said they came from an “impostor.”

“That was not an approved message by the campaign,” said Chris Evans, a spokesman for Mr. O’Rourke. Mr. Evans added that the campaign was looking into how the unauthorized message was sent. The person who sent the text was “not a Beto volunteer,” Mr. Evans said.

DeSantis picks someone who his supporters are disappointed with:

Some of the comments:

"Disappointed in this pick. She was part of the CRC that has unleashed a wave of garbage on Floridians via proposed Constitutional amendments. Most are currently being challenges in court. Will your running mate denounce her time on the CRC? Will she admit CRC decisions are deceitful and bad for Florida? If not, I do not have high hopes for her (or your) leadership and that's sad when you're up against an admitted Soros funded socialist"

"Wait hold up! DeSantis you said you were a trump supporter, then why did you select her! She is a never trumper! You couldve selected Putnam and tried to unify the Republican Party in Florida to take down the socialist. I wish you would made a better choice"

"This is a terrible pick. She was anti-Trump in 2016 as she was a staunch supporter of Marco Rubio. She also was one of the 67 yes votes in the Florida House to pass Rick Scott's atrocious gun control bill. This is not what the 900,000 plus conservatives who voted for Ron want. It seems to me like a political ploy to help gain votes in Miami and South Florida because you must feel that you can't win without them. Very bad pick."

"Florida Rep. Jeanette Nuñez in 2016 tweeted that Donald Trump was the "biggest con-man there is" and accused him of being a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan. "The Tweet has been deleted". Isn't that interesting? Politics as usual."

"She is an ANTI-TRUMPER! Why pick her? She has since deleted her tweets from 2016 about Trump. She is the WRONG pick!"

"Had to throw the establishment rhinos a bone."

"But she thinks President Trump is a con man and KKK supporter...."

GA Gov race poll tied at 45% with 2% going to libertarian candidate and 8% undecided.

I'm really impressed with her performance, and if the polls aren't picking up on less likely voters, she has a REAL shot.

Some of my friends who have never campaigned are going to volunteer for her.

NYT is showing their poll results live as they are updated for dozens of districts this month.  Kinda weird but interesting, lol.  Crazy how many calls they make to get not even 500 responses.  Clicking on each race shows how they went in the past, where they've called people, and how the poll has changed as they collected more responses.

So far the 3 polls with enough data are in districts republicans won by double digits in 2016 and are are all basically tied.

I am having flashbacks to the NYT dial on election night 2016.

I remember people started out joking about how the "dial is my god", but it all turned dark around 9 or 10 that night.

Oh, but god forbid we give people in the service industry $15 per hour :p

In the primary for New Hampshire's first district, Democrats nominated an openly gay man while Republicans nominated a black Republican, both of whom would be the first either openly gay or black representative in the state. 538 has this has heavily Democratic, and with conditions as they are this year, Dems are currently likely to keep the seat.

Midwest continues to be a large and growing problem for the GOP.

https://www.npr.org/2018/09/12/646816285/poll-midwest-abandons-trump-fueling-democratic-advantage-for-control-of-congress?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The gap has widened to 12 percentage points, up from 7 in July — and largely because of voters in the Midwest. They have swung 13 points in Democrats' direction since July. That Midwestern shift is consistent with what Marist has found in statewide polls conducted for NBC in Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota that showed Trump's support there starting to erode.
