Bacon
FFXIV fans when they realize Soken's music really isn't all that great and will never be nominated.
GameDadGrant
If there is anyone that knows what a good video game song/soundtrack is, it’s the Grammy Academy. For sure.
Firewithin
retroactively give Hotline Miami / 2 the grammy
silentbob
About fucking time I say. I have bought pretty much all the Halo soundtracks and Crysis 3. Also be nice to see maybe Joe Hisashi win something after all his snubs for OST for all his amazing Miyazaki scores.

DPCyric
Since Stellaris still has DLC coming out can we give it's soundtrack the Grammy?

Spawn_of_Apathy
I missed this thread when it was first posted. This feels bittersweet. On the one hand “about time” on the other hand we have long passed some really really really amazing sound tracks. Simpson’s memes not withstanding, it would be nice to see some of them get the recognition they deserve on a stage as publicized and watched as the Grammys.
skillzdadirecta
Mass Effect 2 has some great soundtracks. I'd bet this was brought on by musicians and composers petitioning to get the category included. They make get so much work from gaming now and probably are producing some of their best work in the medium without overbearing producers telling them how to do their jobs. They can also experiement more than they could in other mediums. People really underestimate how important music is in different media. Keyser_Soze
Mick Gordon getting a Grammy for Atomic Heart this year or I riot!
TwinIon
Given how many categories there are at the Grammys, I'm more surprised that this hasn't existed until now.

TheLeon
Shout-out to the first piece of video game music to win a (very niche) Grammy (on an album released several years after the game): Absolute banger

I believe it's for the soundtrack to one of the latest expansions for Valhalla, not the vanilla game.
Keyser_Soze
Also, not that it directly applies to that particular question, the eligibility period for Grammys are weird. Like the recent awards period was from October 1 2021 to September 30 2022. 11 hours ago, TheLeon said: Shout-out to the first piece of video game music to win a (very niche) Grammy (on an album released several years after the game): Absolute banger Interestingly enough he was also nominated this year for the soundtrack to Old World
