Originally there were several "founders" as a result of the NeoGAF exodus, but their stakes in the site's ownership LLC were all eventually bought out by the guy who just sold. He can only conclude that this was a case of (a) the site owner wanting to cash out ASAP and (b) stagnating-to-declining growth prospects. Hard call. The owner BARELY engaged with the site from what I gather and let the unpaid mod team handle all the dirty work. It really was just a case that he could see the declining user engagement and ad revenue writing on the wall and decided to get out while the getting was good!
