Loki Trailer and Discussion Thread (Update: Series premiers on June 9th)

Recommended Posts

So Wandavision ended March 5. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier started 2 weeks later, ending April 23. Loki started 7 weeks later, ending July 14. What If...? starts in 4 weeks and will be 10 episodes, putting the end at October 13. Ms. Marvel is after that, which will be 6 episodes, and apparently there's still a chance Hawkeye starts airing this year, which means Ms. Marvel could start as little as a couple weeks after What If ends, with Hawkeye starting in as little as a couple weeks after that.

They are really cranking these out. Almost 2 months between TFATWS and Loki seems to be the exception rather than the norm so far.

They really don't want to give people any reason to temporarily cancel their Disney+ subscriptions.

Then you also have Moon Knight and She-Hulk

Yeah, next year you'll have the end of Hawkeye (6-8 episodes), Moon Knight (6 episodes), She-Hulk (10 episodes), Secret Invasion (6 episodes), and the Guardians Holiday Special.

There will probably be longer breaks between them, but that's still around 30 episodes in a 52 week year, as opposed to this year, which is at least 37 episodes, depending on when Hawkeye begins airing. So next year we might see more of the 6-7 week breaks rather than 2-4.

Still, the message is clear: They don't want to give any reason to hop on and off Disney+ constantly. The pipeline must keep flowing. And I'm not mad at it, at least for now.

Yeah, it’s pretty clear they want to have at least one big series running at any given time. So there will always be either a Marvel or Star Wars show either airing or just around the corner. It’s more or less what every service tries to do. Netflix has a noteworthy movie or series drop pretty much every week, but they are aiming a lot wider, and aren’t limited to a few IPs, so it isn’t as blatant.

I feel like Disney's model holds people by the balls a little more. Like, there isn't anything Netflix has that makes me go "I'm keeping my subscription for THAT," I just kind of know "eh, it's been a few days since I've logged onto Netflix and I'm bored, I can probably find something."

It is impressive that Disney, at least for now, is going to manage such highly produced shows coming out almost weekly for the foreseeable future.

I haven't seen The Mandalorian and have almost zero interest in anything Star Wars related these days, but they're doing something similar with Star Wars, right?

Yes, and the pipeline they're going for is combined Marvel and Star Wars, not just Marvel.

I don't really give a shit about Star Wars either but really enjoyed Mandalorian, you should check it out.

Johnathan Majors was fun as hell

Apparently, he was so good that they switched his Loki character to be a Kang variant so they could bring him back in Ant-Man.

Even though Marvel confirmed last December that Jonathan Majors was joining the MCU as Kang the Conqueror in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” he only got that role because he was going...

So he's gonna be the Thanos of this chapter, yeah? He'll be in Ant-Man, I doubt he'll be in doctor strange? Unless it's in a post credits scene (people forget that the only MCU movies Thanos appeared in outside of post credits scenes were GotG, infinity war, and end game). Then maybe he's in GotG 3, since their search for Gomora somewhat delves into multiverse/time travel bullshit.

He'll definitely be in Ant-Man 3 and Doctor Strange 2, but not sure how much he'll actually be in them. But he must have been really impressive to go from Loki variant to being upgraded to main villain for phase 4.

Never been so titled by a season finale. Show was really good. Really needed more Loki magic tho. Main Loki was just using "green force" powers. I get we can't get Old Man Loki levels every episode, but it was lame that Loki was more Jedi than God. Still, Old Man Loki powers made be blow my load.

But that fucking cliffhanger just left a major sour taste in my mouth simply because it was a cliffhanger. You don't need cliffhangers Disney. We sheep return as often as you say your characters will. If I had known it was a cliffhanger I would have just waited until season 2. Also, I thought the whole final episode was off. The dialogue with He Who Remains felt super stretched out. I really don't care if it was really "masterful acting" but He Who Remains felt like he was over acting. I literally can't see any reason for the characters to believe he was telling the truth. When Loki believed him I couldn't believe it. In what fucking timeline does Loki believe a guy who talks like that? It seem so unreal I was waiting for some final twist like Loki wasn't even real and this was all in his head or something. I don't care if that was how the viewer was supposed to feel or whatever. I hate that whole final bit. That whole final "zone" or whatever also felt so Marvel in a bad way. The moment they entered the mansion and the stupid clock appeared I let out an audible sigh.

Thought Renslayer was pretty shit. B-15 and Mobius were pretty great. genderbender+selfcest is a patrician-tier tags. I read a Porn Manga where a guy had the girl version of him appear in his bathroom. She is from a different universe where their lives were basically exactly the same, and even have the same scar and metal state. The only real difference is that their father is bald in one universe but not the other. Eventually, the fuck each other, and then somehow the guy ends up going to the girl's universe where it turns out, despite their life events been nearly identical, the girl is from a fantasy earth with dragons and giant flying bugs that people use instead of cars. She also lives in a floating city. It was a good porn manga.
