If you use GrubHub, UberEATS, etc, you are a bad person

Ordering through apps doesn’t prevent your order being wrong. My order is wrong around 50% of the time with apps which is also probably comparable to going in person, but I haven’t exactly done a scientific study on it.

What if all this time takeout places have been pranking him by giving him spicy sauces each time he asked for mild? Honestly it seems more plausible than someone thinking mild salsa is spicy.

I used to think mild salsa was spicy up until my early 20’s tbh. Now I can handle medium. Different people have different spice tolerances.

This is fascinating. Even when I had 0 tolerance for spiciness, mild salsa has never had any detectable levels of spice to me.

Um yeah. I was told by various restaurants if I can call in the order instead of door dash.

That's great, but not every restaurant will do this or respond truthfully when asked. But asking is better than nothing for sure!

I wonder how much in labor costs the average restaurant saves by having their employees spend less time tied up on the phone taking orders

Whatever that number is, however small, it's offset by having to contact the customer after inevitable intentional or unintentional errors in the order.

It seems to vary by place and app. Looking at the places I order from most often, some are the same, some are inflated by 20% or more on DD, some are in the middle.

Major chains probably are closer. I suspect things like sushi are more marked up. The worst part though imo is that if you tip and pick up, the whole tip doesn't go to the restaurant. When I have to order DD, I always pick up and leave the tip in cash (which makes restaurants really excited and happy).

I verified with many different people today who all agree that anyone that can detect any level of spice whatsoever in mild Tostitos salsa should have their taste buds revoked.
