  1. Hey now, don’t edit out my ! I really have no dog in this fight.
  2. The Goonies didn’t spend years fighting interdemensional monsters that can break people apart with ease. If they did, I might have expected a slightly higher death count. I don’t particularly care one way or the other on this, honestly. I get that “it’s not that kind of show” that’s going to kill off a bunch of its main cast for whatever reason. Since they have to keep the stakes high, they can just write in new characters that can die whenever they need a little juice.
  3. JustWatch.com is like 99% accurate when trying to find what service has a movie or show. Thief is also on Kanopy and Hoopla, two free (and ad-free) services that you sign up for using a library card. JustWatch is really useful in cases like that, because while I’ve used those services before, I never really think of them when I’m looking for something to watch.
  4. Their headquarters is down the street from where I work now, and they’re hiring.
  5. Oh yeah, I totally get the appeal. That premise is what made the announcement so exciting, and then when it actually came out and delivered on its potential that was doubly exciting. But I really just have no use for handhelds. If I traveled for work like my brother in law (he spends 2-3 nights a week out of town) or something like that I would absolutely get one. I'm just here alone in my small apartment. I'm either sitting at my desk with my PC, or sitting on the couch looking at my TV and all my systems. I just can't imagine the scenario in which I actually use the Deck nearly enough to justify the purchase.
  6. I know that I have no use for a Steam Deck. I don’t really travel, I live alone (no arguing over the big screen or whatever), I don’t even play my Switch in handheld mode. This would be nothing more than an expensive novelty for me, but you excitable jerks have me considering blowing a significant percentage of my disposable income on one of these stupid things. I’m mostly blaming @stepee
  7. I’m interested in this movie for the story behind its creation, but the end result doesn’t look like something I would enjoy watching.
  8. @Rachel My potential half sister sent me a message this morning. Just a basic hello and invitation to talk if I wanted to. I responded that I would be interested in talking, and that I hoped my existence wasn’t too big of a bombshell.
  9. I think you just shoot stuff and eventually you get better ways to shoot stuff. It’s been a while since I played.
  10. This is me just completely making shit up, but I had the sense that he really put a lot of effort into those movies (Red State and Tusk), really challenged himself to do something different. But then when they weren’t critically or commercially successful, he decided that level of effort just wasn’t worth it when he can just have fun with his friends making something dumb.
  11. I’m not the one who said lose them. To me, that scene played out like she was was really reaching to do something new with her power, maybe transferring some of it to Max to save her, and that might leave El temporarily weakened. In this scenario, she would still have enough juice to move a door, for example, but maybe not do the more extreme stuff she was doing earlier in the episode. But maybe I’ve just been watching too much Doctor Who recently, and that’s the kind of shit that happens on that show all the time. If she’s basically just doing the classic “bang on a dying/dead person’s chest until they’re revived” TV trope, but with her mind, that’s a simple enough explanation, and easier to track than whatever I was imagining. I’m sure if it was set just a few years later they would have played this over it:
  12. Did anyone play Stranger of Paradise? That game looked so weird, but I feel like it just kinda came and went.
  13. Wild that the most kid-focused series so far is the one that spends half an episode being a domestic drama set in 1940’s India with none of the series regulars. This show gets all my respect.
  14. I’ve already forgotten the details, but was that the last we saw of El using her powers? It could have drained/weakened her in ways we just haven’t seen yet.
  15. Finished Skyward Sword HD. Not sure what my next main game is going to be. I bought The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles on Switch, but I think that’s something I’ll end up playing slowly over the course of like a year. Since I had rare success in picking up and finishing a game I stopped playing almost a year ago, I might try that again. I’ve been meaning to get back to YS VIII for a while.
  16. @crispy4000 thanks for posting that. I always forget about Prime Gaming, and I had been eyeing Fell Seal.
  17. At this point, I’m driving my car as little as possible and hoping I won’t need to replace it soon. It’s a 2006 Elantra, but it only has 110k miles on it. A solid e-bike is looking like a good investment now. I really don’t need to go more than 5-10 miles on a normal day, and I can keep the car as a backup for inclement weather or the occasional longer distance trip.
  18. Awesome! I would love to visit The Quarry (Series X digital), please!
