  1. I’m dusting off the PS4, which I’ve barely touched since finishing The Last of Us 2. I have a few games that qualify and I could also realistically clear this month. First up is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
  2. That doesn’t seem like a particularly great use of my vacation time.
  3. Feel kinda bad for them. No matter how good and well-received this movie is, it’s destined to be “that other fighter pilot movie of 2022” (also starring Glen Powell)
  4. Keep in mind that when this movie comes out, it will completely erase every instance of the previous movie. That film will cease to exist, as is the sad fate of every movie that gets remade.
  5. Nothing fancy. I'll always take a solid dive over fine dining any day. Sounds exhausting.
  6. All gameplay related content (characters, modes, maps, etc.) being free and cosmetic items that don’t affect gameplay being the only paid content is kinda the generally agreed upon way to handle a competitive F2P game like this. They want to be able to reach a large user base and keep them engaged for years with regular content updates. So then how do you make money? Ads? Gross. Base game is free but pay for new maps/modes? That splits your playerbase every time you put up a new paywall. I get that it feels kinda icky, especially when for so long a game was just a game that you bought with a set amount of money and you got the whole thing. And that model still applies to most games. This is something else. At least paying a set amount for a skin, no matter how overpriced, is less exploitative than the common loot box/gatcha systems, where you could spend hundreds of dollars and still not get that one skin you want. If people choosing to spend money in a frivolous way keeps steady free updates coming to a game I enjoy, that’s alright with me. Of course this whole debate could be moot when the game comes out and is a dud, because it certainly doesn’t seem all that exciting.
  7. I’m going to be in the area for a wedding in a few weeks. Depending on which flights I end up taking, I’ll have either one or two days to spend in Boston before heading to Salem for the wedding. Since I’ve never been there before, what should I make a priority?
  8. I spent $10 on loot boxes in Overwatch one time, and immediately afterwards I felt so shitty I vowed to never spend money on cosmetics ever again.
  9. I had MK8 on the WiiU, but barely played it because it was on the Wii U And I know it’s the same thing that’s said in every thread about a Nintendo game, but it’s wild when I look at the price history of this 5 year old rerelease of an 8 year old game and think “damn, I should have bought this in March, at the historically low price of $40”.
  10. I hear a little hard time can really straighten you out.
  11. Did her hips ever say they were gonna pay her taxes?
  12. I was a stupid teenager in my IGN days. I’m glad this place gave me a fresh space to be stupid in my 20’s and 30’s.
  13. I think there’s something to the fact that this isn’t a straight biopic, but is based on a novel that’s a fictional account of Monroe’s life (at least that’s how I understand it). That maybe allows for some creative casting. And as I’ve said before, one of the best things a modern filmmaker can do is put as much Ana de Armas in their movie as possible, so I fully support this choice.
  14. I don’t mean for this to be targeted at you specifically, but I think this is a wild aspect of the grand MCU experiment. They’ve announced dozens of projects for the next three years, and people are already asking “yeah, but what about in 4 years?” No other entertainment property I can think of carries that level of expectation and generates that level of far-reaching speculation. And similarly, so few of these of these movies/shows are allowed to just be their own thing. There was so much hand-wringing in the last year, like “that show/movie was good, but we still don’t know where this is all leading to. What’s the Next Big Thing?” Now we have that Next Big Thing, but it’s still not big enough to hold all the IP they have, so now we’re left to speculate on how they’re going to cash in next. But yeah, I imagine the next Avengers movies will find ways to clear a lot of characters off the board to reset and make room for whatever they want to build up to in the next Avengers movies in 2028.
  15. Well, a “return to normal” would include extra bullshit on Facebook, so I can see where they’re coming from.
  16. And I did! The final area probably ended up taking hours, but that's OK because I had breezed through the rest of the game. I might have been a little underleveled, but thanks to the fast pace of the combat, I was able to grind out some levels pretty quickly and power through to the end. I think I'm going to play though something completely different next, then jump into the FF4 remaster.
  17. I’m reaching the end of the Final Fantasy 3 pixel remaster. I think I might finish it today.
  18. Pretty much ever since I started gaming online, I had a sort of “default” multiplayer game, usually a shooter, that I would keep going back to in between other games. It would be the same thing, often for years at a time, until it naturally got replaced by the next thing. But when I finally gave up on Warzone last year, nothing has taken its place. Halo Infinite was fun for a while, but that was never a series I got into all that deeply. I’ll probably check back into Overwatch when 2 drops, but that doesn’t feel like a particularly exciting “sequel”.
  19. I played the PSP game and enjoyed it for a while, but I always hit a point not too far into this type of game where I’m just overwhelmed and lose interest.
  20. There’s also an issue of branding here. Nobody is going to take something called “monkeypox” seriously.
