  1. Lol, it seems pretty clear by now that regardless of if Trump's petulant dictator thing was ever intended as a shtick, it has become a political reality at this point.
  2. Becoming a hostile Karen boomer and age... 30? 35? Goop spirituality is a hellofa drug.
  3. I noticed Civ 6 got an update on the 21st that adds more scenarios and fixes the cropped screen issues it had at launch, so I'm starting it today.
  4. I think I'm on chapter 14 or 15 now. Is it possible to come back to these side missions post-game?
  5. To anyone playing it on a Pro, does it seem like Mafia 3 has more pop-in than it did before the update?
  6. Just read one of the spoilers and boy was that a mistake. But also heard some leaked info might not be in the final game? update: nevermind, has to be legit since lots of footage from the actual game was leaked as well Everything is political to some extent because that's how psychology works, but lots of art can be less political than if made to express an agenda/statement. The fact that so much anime and videogames is capable of being enjoyed by almost anyone, regardless of politics, also seems to be proof of this. Of course there's also proof that lots of professional artists can be jerks, are susceptible to cultural/social/political ignorance, that progressive messaging in games was intentionally deprioritized (usually to increase sales and/or viewership over expressing political agendas, IE entertainment) or, if agendas were intended, they were not as effective as they could've been. It took a minute but nowadays this seems to be much less of an issue throughout the industry and audience than it used to be.
  7. This was something. Carol Baskin is goop incarnate. Some kind of unprecedented super karen. Joe Exotic is like Captain Planet if the team used florida man energy to summon him. And they're arguably the least messed up characters in the show.
  8. I'm trash at most competitive multiplayer games I've played. In Tekken, Rocket League, RDR2 and Titanfall I'm competent sometimes.
  9. GUN, that western action/adventure from Neversoft. Oni (Bungie game). I mostly remember it for the box art tbh. Like Bloodborne Loved that game though. And the disc probably spent as much time in my CD player as the Playstation.
  10. For RE games with at least two scenarios, a blend of the events in all of them are considered canon if I remember correctly. So both Rebecca and Barry surviving the mansion incident and stuff like Claire being the one to kill Birkin are all canon. This is true for the remakes as well.
  11. Got to chapter 9 last night. Everything so far is quite linear, but so were X, X-2 and every installment of XIII. My hope and prediction since classic FFVII had a world map is that this remake will be Square’s take on a Star Wars or LOTR-style blockbuster trilogy, designed almost like the Arkham games where the first one is linear and confined (Midgar story chapters expanding to bombastic proportions nonwithstanding) and the sequels are open world and increasingly so. Also as someone who’s 100% that jerk that dislikes most non-Ghibli anime and doesn't get the hype for most acclaimed video game stories, I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying the story here. Like with Ghibli films, the writing and characters feel endearing and well acted for the most part. There's still some cornball moments (as there is with almost every story-driven game with tons of writing) but so far it's genuinely engaging imo. Pretty hyped to see how it plays out.
  12. It's worth noting that Star Wars' filmmakers always had a significantly more widescreen canvas to work with compared to what was possible w/ compact discs and video game hardware in the early 90's. Classic as FFVII is, the hardware restrictions back then might've also restricted the scope of narrative possibilities that writers of retro games wanted to tackle. In many ways FFVIIR might be closer to the story as originally envisioned than even the PS1 version is/was.
  13. Finished it last night. Quick impressions Too much has been cut out imo. Boss battles, enemy types, entire locations, and puzzles. Some odd tweaks too. Why not have Nemesis kill Brad again and resurrect him as a parasite zombie for that scene? Was gravedigger omitted because there's a second giant worm creature in Code Veronica? Fair enough, assuming that one still appears in the CV remake. Also wouldn’t using blue herbs to heal from Drain Deimos attacks have better continuity than using green herbs? And why not make the gem puzzle a mandatory one and have it open up one more chunk of map? Why does it take at least an hour to an hour and a half for nemmy to BEGIN stalking you? At times you can’t help but feel like this is almost a theatrical version of an improved director's cut. Nemesis is underutilized imo. If he was like Mr X for most of the game only faster, smarter, stronger and occasionally using weapons, it would've been an indisputable progression on RE2make. What we got instead was maybe an hour of that with the rest of his appearances deigned as scripted boss battles and setpieces. That said, considering how OP Nem is here, limiting him to smaller doses seems pretty understandable. Not sure how you’d balance that intensity and feeling of being unsafe at all times without overwhelming most players. In the original he's not as strong even though he follows you around more. I'm torn...considering that was a selling point and made the original so memorable, it's kinda weird it only happens like one fifth of the time here. You can see how 5+ hours of that might get nerve-racking for most players, but on the other hand maybe the best of both worlds could've been achieved if he was nerf’d at the beginning (can still sprint, but can’t tentacle grab or super jump until a few hours later) and gradually became more formidable leading up to the clocktower fight. Ultimately, since RE3make can so clearly be expanded into a better game (limited open world Raccoon City, persistent stalker Nem, more puzzles, new locations, etc), you can’t help but feel disappointed. I think it’s still top 5 RE though and I’m glad we have it. Four months ago nobody expected so much as screenshot for at least a few years, so playing it now does feel like a gift. It almost meets expectations despite that sting of disappointment, and since expectations were high that’s not too bad. These were my only complaints, honestly. Overall it's a solid game. 7.9/10
  14. Not Remakes though, since they're practically new games at this point. Having a PS4 alone you feel thankful there's so much to play, but I'm still wondering when/if we might get... - Onimusha 2, 3 and 4 - Jet Set Radio Future - Riddick collection -Nights into Dreams (Saturn remaster version) - Ninja Gaiden 1-3, but not sure the best way to go about it. Xbox versions? Sigma versions? The gameplay in Black is arguably the best of all three NG1's, the 360 version of NG2 has all the uncensored gore that never should've been removed, but some of the weapons, characters and enhancements from the Sigma versions are legit too. For the sake of forward compatibility hopefully Team Ninja might consider making definitive versions of each game that merge all the best stuff across all editions into them if they do a remaster collection) - Dreamcast collection. Sonic adventure 1 Sonic adventure 2 Jet grind radio Crazy taxi Crazy taxi 2 Ecco: DotF Power stone Power stone 2 Chu chu rocket D2 House of the dead 2 (w motion controls) Typing of the dead Skies of Arcadia Seaman Sega bass fishing Phantasy star online Virtua tennis 2 Headhunter Samba de amigo Space channel 5 Soul calibur - Valve collection (HL1, Black Mesa/HLR, HL2, E1, E2, Counter Strike (most recent one), Portal, Portal 2, L4D2, Team Fortress 2) -Ico and SOTC collection PS3 port (will these ever exist in disc or download form again?) - Spec Ops: The Line -Metroid Prime trilogy (this, along with all the Mario games getting remastered might finally persuade me to get a Switch) -Metal Gear collection -Katamari Damacy (how is this not on PS4 by now!?) -Killer 7 -Viewtiful Joe 1-2 -Silent Hill 1-4 What remasters and ports are you still waiting on?
  15. The Irishman Stranger Things Black Mirror Bandersnatch Ozark Dolemite is my Name The Witcher Peaky Blinders
  16. Some impressions of Nemesis itself indicate he remains a series of intense scripted encounters instead of a progression of the Mr X constant pursuer thing. If true it feels like a missed opportunity to me. Based on the demo I'd guess the finished game will meet expectations of being as fun and thrilling as you'd expect from any RE, but some reviews and message board posts now have me intrigued to see how much content was scrapped from the original and how Nemesis will be implemented.
  17. Good thing i'm not a graphics snob then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Dudes, the article hints at not just ports of PS4 games, but Sony working with the original dev studios to tweak and enhance them to take advantage of next gen technology. It's possible remasters and remakes are gonna keep rolling out too. Will assets like models and textures in BC games be reworked ? Probably not, but the press statements mentions we could get a boost in framerate, resolution, loading times, and even stuff like shadow quality and fixing of glitches and technical issues that couldn't be done this gen. There might also be additional issues via the porting(?) process to be fixed after launch, but that should be expected. Whatever happens, at the end of the day we can only guess right now since this is unprecedented in the industry and nobody knows for sure what to expect until Sony does an official reveal later this year, when/if that happens.
  18. There's tons of multiplatform games worth playing and some console exclusives that aren't. Based on that article, Sony's looking into having at least a few hundred done at launch, and many of those could get framerate boosts and more technical improvements. Imagining Red Dead 2, AC:Origins, The Witcher 3, RE2 and 3 remake, Prey, Control, and more with those enhancements is hype worthy and "Overwhelming majority of all PS4 games" sounds pretty comprehensive if you average out the ACTUAL shovelware this gen. So yeah, looks like the BC feature should end up pleasing just about everyone. And what isn't there can be remade in Dreams.
