Good for you for advocating for yourself. If you don't mind sharing, I'm curious: what made you realize that they may not have had your best interests at heart?

Fortunately I didn't have to do that, no. It's true that the included bracket doesn't let it get super far out from the wall, but I found it more than enough to get all of my cables plugged in. I can imagine if you didn't have very easy access to the sides of your TV it might be trickier.

Working 12 hour days when you're salaried is horse shit. -
When I lived in North Carolina for a couple of years after college, I went up to DC once to visit my sister and we met up with @Commissar SFLUFAN for a drink and had a lovely time. To this day, if I ever mention the forums to my sister, she will occasionally bring up his name and say something like "it's still the best real name that sounds fake that I've ever heard." We met up roughly 15 years ago. It's the gift that keeps on giving, sir.

Unless you mean that your particular setup would require a lot of shuffling things around or something, FWIW I have my G3 wall mounted and it was super easy. The TV includes the necessary bracket and a paper outline of the TV (so you can place it exactly where you want it). I just used a stud finder, a level, and a drill to get it mounted in about 15 minutes with the help of a friend. The TV is fucking legit.

Yeah I commented to someone the other day that we were at -15 less than two weeks ago and that day I had taken my dog out in just jeans and a T-shirt. In Portland in January.

The really galling thing to me is that if they had just said "we're raising the price of Prime by $18/year" (approx. ($2.99/month * 12 months)/2, to assume that roughly half the people using it don't use it enough to make ads necessary to offset their costs) I would have gladly paid it and not given it a second thought. Even if they raised the price of Prime by $36/year I possibly would have begrudgingly paid it. But adding in ads to a service I already am paying for really infuriates me.

Jesus Christ, the AfD even met at a hotel near a lake to discuss their plans. Shades of Wannsee. -
What broke the American Dream for Millenials

And just to address a potential counterargument: Yes, one does generally make more money in more expensive cities, but the median household income of Portland, OR is still only $85, 876 according to the Census bureau. -

Really interesting article, thanks. "The media" is one identified "we" in the article. A minority of Swift fans are another. You should read the article. -
That sucks, sorry man. Is it at least walking distance to work, or are you having to drive? I vaguely recall you saying you don't drive much, or at all; am I misremembering? Either way, the sidewalks are crap right now, for sure. A few months ago I bought a set of these and they've been a godsend when I have to take my dog out; I can definitely recommend them. I feel very lucky that I have the ability to work remotely, especially since I live in Portland but work in Hillsboro. Starting a few months ago they had us starting to come into the office at least two days per week, but at least management has (so far) been reasonable about not enforcing it when the weather is crap; besides the general corporate email about being cautious in inclement weather, our manager sent out an email to the team explicitly stating "do not come to campus."

Where I live, Portland, OR, ranks as "only" the 21st most expensive US city to live in, according to US News & World Report, but the median house sale price here is $531,000 according to Zillow. Assuming the (outdated?) standard of a 20% down payment ($106,000 ), a 30-year fixed mortgage at 7.618%, and following the (again, outdated?) guideline of housing being no more than a third of your income, you'd need to earn about $108,000 per year. And that excludes any insurance, HOA fees, taxes, etc. The median household income in the US was $74,588 in 2022, according to the Census bureau. -
Can confirm! I went to a nearby sandwich shop yesterday (Snappy's, if you know it, over on Ankeny and SE 6th) and when I told the guy I was glad they were open, he said "Yeah, after a week of being closed we had to be." The ice is just so thick, there's plenty of it left even after it got up to 40 today. I'm just glad I never lost power in all of this; some people on r/Portland were saying they were without power for nearly a week and even inside their house it got down into the 30s (when it was closer to 0 outside).

Gaming Accessories ~~Official AR Glasses (Rokid Max, Nreal Air, etc.) Thread ~~
Nokra replied to Rev's topic in The Spawn Point
Since I haven't been able to justify getting an OLED Steam Deck but have heard I believe @stepee saying how great Ori: And the Blind Forest was on it, I instead popped on my Rokid Max glasses for that OLED experience (I'll try it on my LG G3 later ). It was definitely not disappointing! The game really looks great on these glasses; the colors are fantastic!- 134 replies
