I bought many games within a few days or weeks of their release for the Gameboy Color, but the first game I can be absolutely certain that I bought on the first day was Grand Theft Auto III for PC. The t-shirt I got for preordering was one of my favorites for a long time.

I think I could hear something in that video, but it's a little hard to say; I'm not sure if the mic is picking it up properly. I definitely believe you that it's more annoying in person though; that would drive me crazy. Also, am I seeing correctly that you're also (still?) rocking some Klipsch ProMedia speakers? I've still got my 4.1s from like 2003.

Another article about this that someone posted on reddit (I'll see if I can find it) mentioned that in addition to the lying, there were fake documents planted. Which is a much bigger deal, since it shows a much more deliberate and longer-duration plan, likely with multiple people involved. Edit - Nevermind, it's in this article too: "falsification of records".

I did indeed pick up some brown sugar Pop Tarts yesterday.

I may have to go buy some today in his honor.

~~ CEB Community Thread ~~

Just filed my taxes for 2023. I got my federal taxes damn near perfect (only owed them $14) and I should be getting a $2,300 refund on my state taxes, thanks to a budget surplus in my state (Oregon). -
Would you e.g. trip a fleeing suspect to help pursuing police catch them?
Nokra replied to Nokra's topic in The Shower
Yeah, to repeat what I meant in the OP: I have zero regrets about my own "lack of action" here. Besides the lawsuits, there are also potential safety concerns (both for me and my dog), and I have no idea what the guy allegedly did. Given the general lack of law enforcement in Portland these days (as @Fizzzzle can probably attest), I'd guess it would have to be something somewhat serious to actually get a cop to chase him down, but who knows. -

And before anybody asks, no I don't have an uncle Ben and AFAIK I haven't been bitten by any spiders recently. -
I was just out for a walk with my dog on my lunch break when suddenly I heard someone running up behind me. Right as I turned around, I heard someone shout "Stop! Or I'll use force!" and I see a police officer chasing a guy running right at me. I had literally one or two seconds to even realize what was happening, and in the moment I just moved to the side of the sidewalk with my dog and let them both go by. They quickly turned down a side street and disappeared. When I was walking back past the area on my way home, there were two cop cars but I didn't see the guy they were chasing, so I'm guessing he got away. Has anyone here been in a similar situation before? Did you react any differently? Knowing nothing about the suspect or officers involved, I have zero regrets about just staying out of it this time, personally, but I could also see myself possibly helping the police if e.g. I was certain that the suspect had done something seriously wrong.

I keep wanting to read this as "Blue Ski" , like when people refer to beer as "brewskis".

I went on my first run in a long time (4 months?) and my first night run in the city tonight. I only did a little over a mile (trying not to overdo it) at around a 9 min/mile pace, but it felt great. Work has been stressing me out lately and I needed to move. My dog loved it too. Going to try to run more regularly, rain or shine.

Books What Are You Reading or Listening To?
Nokra replied to rc0101's topic in The Performing Arts Centre
Here's another vote of confidence in your enjoyment of The Dark Tower series, now that you're through the worst one. Wizard and Glass (#4, IIRC) was one of my favorite books for a long time. I only say "was one of my favorite" because it's been a very long time (15+ years) since I've read it, at this point, but I remember it had a great and very moving story. Enjoy the journey ahead! -
PCCB Is the "Prepare Your Anus" TF2 server still running?
Nokra replied to Nokra's topic in PC/Mac Technical and PCCB
Ah yes, I bet that's it; I did indeed just copy and paste. Thanks! Mann vs. Machine is a pretty fun mode; basically you and some friends fight against waves of bots that are pretty dumb but they overwhelm with numbers. You're right, we might have more luck getting a game of that mode going than a full 12 v. 12. I'll try to get something organized in the next days! -
Yeah I got one too, for the first time ever.

Also I'll just point out that we're a little imbalanced in our powers of persuasion, @stepee. You convinced me to buy Rokid Max glasses ($400), a Steam Deck ($550), and an LG G3 ($3,000) and I convinced you to buy Genital Jousting ($3).

I think I know the answer to this but... I was just poking around in some Steam community pages and I found the Bad Cartridge/D1P group (anyone not in it already should join!) and I noticed that its description mentions the TF2 server. Unfortunately, I can't even remember the last time I played on it (maybe 2015 ? ) and when I tried to connect to the IP given in the Steam group from within TF2, it said it couldn't find anything. It's gone, right @Commissar SFLUFAN ? Would people still potentially be interested in a TF2 night some weekend, for old time's sake?

I saw you added it to your wishlist. I was playing on the Steam Deck earlier (maybe 5 minutes) but resumed playing on my desktop for the last 45 minutes just because I was on my desktop already after just having stopped playing Counter-Strike 2, but it does seem to run very well on the Deck, FWIW. I don't want to oversell it though... it's definitely not GOTY material , but it's an amusing way to spend a bit of time, IMO. And it was $5 or so.

Busted. I've had the game for a while and never tried it. Its story mode is surprisingly funny; I'm about 45 minutes in (to what the Internet claims is about a 1.5 hour mode) and it's made me laugh out loud quite a few times, though I fully admit to having a juvenile sense of humor at times. It has this proper sounding British lady narrating a story of a dick that is unhappy with his life and he tries all kinds of things to make himself happy. For example: Mild Genital Jousting story spoilers Anyway I think if someone can laugh at that kind of stuff (e.g. the South Park: Stick of Truth game) you'll probably enjoy this; it's an amusing, short, and very playable game. I won't expect to become an international Genital Jousting champ online though.
