  1. Agreed. Stores like Best Buy will have them set up for you to try out, but IMO it's still hard to tell... their acoustics are different than your home, the settings may be tweaked because of stupid customers doing dumb things, etc, not to mention that whatever media they have going on them may or may not be optimal for testing. I went with the soundbar I did just because it had a lot of positive reviews and all of the features I was looking for (again, Atmos, DTS, etc.) But yeah, even in ideal conditions, I don't know that my ears can detect the difference between my $300 setup and a $1000 setup. On the other hand, on the visual side, I was very nervous about whether I had unnecessarily gone nuts with my $3000 LG G3, and I've been super happy with it and am continually impressed. Maybe the trick is to wait for a friend to get the expensive shit and you can try it out.

    I'm 31.

Also I can finally give something back to the world.
  3. Blah, yeah that sounds annoying. I hadn't heard about that being all that common of an issue with Bluetooth surrounds; I appreciate you posting that. FWIW if you want something in the meantime and are OK with wired rear surrounds, I bought this for my older cheaper Samsung 4K TV but it has been working great with my LG G3; I've been very happy with it. It's not super fancy but it has surprisingly good sound, Dolby Atmos, DTS, etc. and didn't break the bank.
  4. Agreed. reddit.com/r/ImTheMainCharacter is full of this kind of shit... People who think the world revolves around them and their desires; nobody else ( certainly not safety) matters. The adults failed the kids here for sure.

    I'm 31.

Seems to me like being dead would be more depressing, but...
  6. *IKnowThatFeel.jpg* I got Ragnarok bundled with my PS5, so... This sale was kind of a bust.
  7. Here's hoping for something that isn't just a changed-roster-sports-game for Day 12...
  8. Yesterday was Madden 24, today is FC 24 for $29.99.
  9. Yeah unless it was an explicit request of the person who died, I don't really understand the need to withhold that information, and I admit I'm very curious to know who it was. At the same time, I also acknowledge that people may have differing opinions on this, and that's OK.
  10. That's super annoying, sorry man. Not to go all Karen on them, but could you explicitly ask to speak to a supervisor? Sounds like they're just passing you around to lower-level people who don't know what they're doing.
  11. Today's (12/6/2023) game is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for $32.99 for both PS5 and Xbox. That's $6 cheaper than it currently is on Steam.
  12. I appreciate the discussion on cataloging one's collection. I've been looking for an easy way to do so and have been coming up short. Ideally, I think I'd like an app for my phone that would let me just scan the barcode on the case and instantly add it to my collection, link it to all relevant info (e.g. its IMDb page), etc.
  13. I wondered but wasn't going to question it.
  14. I've been playing Forza Horizon 4 on my Steam Deck and enjoyed it.
  15. Yeah, same. Also, I think the last Gran Turismo game I played was GT3 back in the PS2 days; I'm not sure I'm into the realistic racers all that much anymore.
  16. Today's (12/4/23) deal is Gran Turismo 7 for $29.99 (PS5) or $19.99 (PS4).
  17. It's not even specified when in 2025, so it could be December, two years. Anyway, that looks fantastic. Time to play GTA IV and V in anticipation; that should fill a few weeks anyway.
  18. Another set of headphones is up today @Remarkableriots!
  19. I can't believe people actually want food from McDonalds, let alone collectibles.
  20. Miles Morales for PS5 is $17.99, not a bad deal if you don't have PS+.
  21. My upgrades tend to be every five years or more, so changing sockets doesn't bother me since the rest of the tech has probably also advanced enough for it to be worth it.
  22. I also finally watched this today and overall I enjoyed it, It's obviously primarily a movie for kids, and clearly it's not "high cinema", but they made it fun for sure, IMO. The time did fly by quite quickly, and I like what they did with the characters and how they gave them backstory, personality, etc.
