  1. I thought his comics were funny when I was about 10. Given all of his chud behaviors lately, this isn't surprising.
  2. Whenever I want to visit a website, I put in its IP address directly.
  3. We actually got over an inch (giggity) of snow here in Portland. Pretty unusual, and of course few here know how to drive in it so the roads are a mess.
  4. Nothing brings the CEB together like a good old pile-on towards the NYT. Ya love to see it.
  5. If they're all with himself, doesn't that also mean he also always loses?
  6. The woman I'd been dating for the last three months broke up with me tonight. Two days after Valentine's Day, three days before my birthday. And she did it via text. On the day that I also had a big-ass project due for work. I'm genuinely doing fine with the breakup, but the timing just makes me laugh. Clearly, this is for the best.
  7. I did appreciate not seeing power poles all over Germany when I lived there, but I wondered if there were other advantages to above-ground lines since they're so common here in the US. In my search, I found this site. A quick summary, from the site: Above-ground power Pros Lower cost. Overhead power lines are a less expensive way to get power to your home. They are also less expensive to repair and upgrade. Quicker construction. Overhead lines can be installed relatively quickly, since there’s no need to trench. Easier to spot damage and faults. Our linemen can see the entire line when its placed overhead, which makes it easier to spot outage causes or potential problem areas. Can be built anywhere. Any voltage can be placed overhead. Cons More susceptible to bad weather, such as high winds. More vulnerable to damage from trees and vegetation, which requires right of way trimming. Vulnerable to blinks when animals and branches contact lines. Susceptible to damage from vehicle collisions. Less attractive. Underground Power Pros Not vulnerable to damage from tree branches; no right of way trimming required. Less susceptible to damage from vehicle collisions Not impacted by wind Less vulnerable to blinks when animals and branches contact lines. More attractive. Some people choose to install underground power lines so the infrastructure doesn’t obstruct their view. Cons More expensive to build and repair Fed by overhead lines. At some point, all underground power lines are connected to overhead lines, which makes them vulnerable to outages. Susceptible to flooding Difficult to locate faults Limitations on voltages that can be buried underground. Can be vulnerable to dig-ins. Make sure you always call 811 to locate underground utilities before you dig.
  8. I'll admit to initially being a minor fan, but that was before I started learning much about him. He's revealed himself to be truly awful.
  9. I'll be really curious to hear what you think of To Kill a Mockingbird once you're done. I also reread it a couple years ago for the first time since high school and absolutely loved it.
  10. I'd like to think the engineer also realized that putting all of Musk's nonsense front and center can only help in the long run.
  11. @Reputator I still have a GeForce 3 lying around somewhere if you want it.
  12. Yeah it's an insanely quotable movie, and of course the influence of Monty Python is huge, but as a standalone film I guess it's not likely to be everyone's cup of tea. It was an absolute favorite as a kid, and I watched this and all of Flying Circus pretty regularly. I love absurdist humor.
  13. I made it about 45 seconds into the video before my ears started bleeding and I was forced to commit seppuku. Posting from beyond the graaaaave.
  14. Congrats, that's a damn impressive laptop! Certainly on paper, at least. What's the rest of your setup like? Particularly, what monitor(s) or TV are you using?
  15. The Contest, adapted for D1P.... Because we all know we'd all fail the actual contest.
  16. Funny you say this, I was out on a walk in my neighborhood yesterday and saw this:
  17. Just bought some cage free eggs and they were $5 for a dozen.
