  1. I was kind of on the fence, and now I just purchased the 512 GB version.
  2. I got a refund of around $160 federal and $330 state, is all. No major credits to speak of.

This is bass ackwards. Ugh, sorry you're dealing with that, that's really annoying.
  4. Growing pains of an industry moving more towards digital, I suppose. Hopefully these kinds of breaches will serve as a warning to others.
  5. As SFLUFAN pointed out to me when I got my job, being the less experienced person may actually be an advantage if it means they'd have to pay you less than the other guy and you can still do the work. Crossing my fingers for you!
  6. I think the trailer was OK, nothing special IMO, though I'm probably not the target audience.
  7. My grandpa used to like to say: "No generalization is worth a damn, including this one."
  8. Yeah this afternoon I found a shop that quoted me $1300 for a cat with a 4 year, 48000 mile warranty. Vs. $3100 for an OEM one that's fine if it gets me through a couple more years of saving up for a down payment.
  9. I'm kind of leaning towards paying for another aftermarket catalytic converter to get me through another couple of years until hopefully interest rates go down, the market settles a bit (no more $5k markups above MSRP), and I can save up more for a down payment.
  10. At what point do you all figure that it's no longer worth putting money into a car for repairs vs. just buying a new car (actually new or used)? I have a 2007 Prius with 280,000 miles. It's had a good maintenance record and no accidents, but it's obviously 16 years old and getting way up there in miles. The aftermarket catalytic converter I put in it two years ago is failing, and the dealership is telling me it's $3100 to replace it with an OEM one. I could get another aftermarket one for probably another $1200. Kelly Blue Book says the car is worth between $1200 and $3000. So do I: 1. Buy an aftermarket catalytic converter for around $1200 and hope it doesn't crap out again in 2 years? 2. Just bite the bullet and get the OEM one (with a warranty) for $3100? 3. Trade in the car and get a new or used vehicle? You just never know; it could go another 100,000 miles or it could shit the bed in a completely different way tomorrow.
  11. The restaurant actually had a camera and there's footage. Despite what a piece of crap McConnell is , it's actually kind of hard to watch so I'll spoiler tag it...

Oof, that's some really tough news. Stupid question, but.... How are you doing with it? I echo Brian's sentiments: If there's anything we can do, please let us know.
  13. Pretty sure this topic jinxed me. Today my 2007 Prius didn't pass an emissions test for renewing the registration and it's probably because of the aftermarket catalytic converter I had installed after the factory one was stolen a couple of years ago. Going to take it to a mechanic soon and see what they can do, but it almost certainly is going to cost more to repair than the car is worth (280,000 miles).
  14. I can't wait for the first mistress of a GOP representative to be put down.
