  1. This just reminds me how much I need to play Dishonored 2 and Prey. My weird lingering need with Dishonored is that the game heavily disincentivized killing while providing much more rewarding and fun lethal tools than non-lethal tools.
  2. Horrifying depictions of violence can lend poignance to 2 hour movies but probably wear thin over the course of a 25 hour game. I do kind of worry that the game will discourage those who would be affected by its intended message and be loved by those who luxuriate in its violence.
  3. Forza Horizon 4. There's a lot to do in the game that doesn't require much attention like speed traps, just traversing the map from one end to another, and doing sick donuts. It's one of my go-tos for watching shows and movies that only require about half of my attention.
  4. Let's not even get started on the previous console exclusives that Epic brought over to PC which are now starting to move to other storefronts.
  5. On the flip side not supporting non-Steam storefronts contributes to Steam's monopolistic practices. Only through a gradual erosion of Steam's market share will developers get a more favorable split with the storefronts. Do your part, collect your free games. I don't actually give a hoot, I'm just tired of the Epic bad Steam good narrative when the reality is more complicated.
  6. Oh this has Quadrilateral Cowboy, I've been meaning to get that one for a long time.
  7. Oxenfree and A Short Hike are also standouts.
  8. Inside Llewyn Davis is probably my second favorite behind Barton Fink. https://www.indiewire.com/2016/01/why-inside-llewyn-davis-might-be-the-most-subversive-film-the-coen-brothers-have-ever-made-86156/ This is a pretty good article about the movie. One of the things I loved about the movie was that it was about failure not through lack of talent or trying but rather through luck, or lack thereof. During the moment where history is being made Llewyn Davis is getting his shit kicked in in a back alley, and for every one person who gets to be Bob Dylan there are 1,000 Llewyn Davis' out there.
  9. Dark Souls games appear to have interesting lore but barely even have a narrative.
  10. 11/22/63 deserves a mention. It's not horror but it's damn gripping.
  11. As the screen fades to black for the 700th time, resigned eyes stare back at me. I turn the game off for the night, never to return. Dark Souls II, 27 hours, Last Played 4/20/2016.
  12. It's 11 PM, you've been at the office since 7 AM spending all day meticulously animating a throat cutting animation, and you're starting to get ideas.
  13. The gameplay looks dope. It reminds me of a slower MGSV in that it has a ton of overlapping systems that come together to make a game that reacts to you as you react to it. It's also nice to see a game other than Spec Ops: The Line take seriously the violence that it is portraying.
  14. Ugh, I always buy the battlepass but never actually put money into it. I'm strongly considering just yoloing it this year, I want that morphling taunt.
  15. Goddamnit, I though I was fully woke to anime by watching it with subtitles.
  16. I recently watched it as my semi-annual anime. I thought it was pretty okay overall but I wish it had more of what it gets into towards the end sprinkled throughout the first 15 episodes. It just felt like a lot of the stuff near the end of the series and in the movie was unearned. That said, I'm kind of a dyed in the wool anime hater, and while this show didn't change my mind, I enjoyed watching it well-enough. This song is pretty dope though. Also that shit in the movie with was just tasteless.
  17. Seems like the type of thing that could justify have justified a refund if not dealt with. I wonder why they bothered to implement something like this.
