  1. Call of Juarez Gunslinger Kentucky Route Zero Warframe (this deserves a little explanation because the game is pretty huge, but it's probably the most quietly huge game I can think of) FFXIV (Same as Warframe)
  2. The store is up for me, but it's also in Russian? Edit: The store is down but remains in Russian.
  3. Halo 2 just came out on PC yesterday and I'm now relearning the combos. I think I can already doubleshot more reliably than I ever could back in the day. I'm shocked that no games have really tried to replicate the button combos as a deliberate design.
  4. I'm assuming for yeeting your teammates into the fountain primarily. Honestly, this might be it. I can't think of another ability that brought me more filthy disgusting joy.
  5. The drifting on switch controllers is totally unacceptable. The only problem with Microsoft controllers I've encountered is that my old wired 360 controller lasted so fucking long that I couldn't justify getting an Xbox One controller for the sweet trigger feedback in Forza.
  6. This seems ideal, we get EVO and all the inevitable drama the move to online will cause.
  7. lolno, but I could occasionally beat a Korean pro in a random game. We did have one player who later moved to Korea to run a team house for "foreigners" (non-Korean players) and qualified for Code S (one of the most prestigious Korean leagues). SC2 has always been at least slightly flawed from a competitive player/spectator perspective. Early on when I played the most the early game was much too slow and it took them a long time to speed up the first few boring minutes, and later on with the expansions they introduced a bunch of unnecessary and poorly balanced units that, coupled with burnout, made me much less interested in the game.
  8. I was a pretty high masters Starcraft 2 player and played on a well-respected amateur team. It was a fun scene to be involved in and it was cool to see people grind their way through the amateur levels to become professionals. It was back in the early days of streaming and it was always fun to get "fan mail" of people calling you a cheater if you took a game off a prominent player. It's a shame that SC2 and the RTS genre has fallen out of favor with the esports crowd.
  9. The only redeeming quality of the franchise is the sea shanties, so black flag.
  10. Not all games are narrative arts but all narrative arts are inherently political.
  11. It's possible for a good writer to also be an asshole, some might even say it's a prerequisite.
  12. A competitive strategy game where you make and control units in real time from an overhead view. This may be too cumbersome for a controller but would likely work well with a mouse and keyboard.
  13. Doom Eternal - a fantastic game but a somewhat weird successor to Doom 2016. My heart loves 2016 but my head knows that when it's time for me to come back to Doom it will be Eternal that I return to. My main desire coming out of 2016 was "moar demons" and I got that. Black Mesa, Half-life 2 and eps - I loved Half-Life 1 when I was initially introduced to it like 20 years ago, but I'll admit this is the first time I actually finished Half-Life 2 and I feel like everything was 20% longer than it needed to be. Kentucky Route Zero Act 5 - The dream ends at dawn. What a journey it has been. Hollow Knight - 10/10, I rolled credits a few days ago and have been retreading through the game finding everything I missed and doing the additional content. Hollow Knight belongs in the select class of perfect games where each design element reinforces the others and everything is coherent.
  14. Finishing up the half life two eps, plan on playing Kentucky Route Zero act five tomorrow night after waiting for literal years, and I'm thinking of giving the Dark Souls games another attempt once I have those crossed off. If I'm looking for a good Souls experience which game should I start with? Many years ago I bounced off the first after 8-10 hours of what felt like making zero progress and I want to see if these games are still not for me. Alternatively, should I just play Hollow Knight?
  15. I'm "replaying" the Half Life series to hopefully either get the impulse to buy a VR set for Alyx out of my system or solidify the decision. I just finished Black Mesa, which I'm not convinced is actually the best way to play HL1 in the modern era, although Xen blew me away. I started HL2 today and got much further in it than I had expected, and I'm actually enjoying it more than I did when it came out. Speaking of VR, is there any reason not to get a Quest when they are available again?
  16. So I actually watched all of this and now I no longer need to play the Witcher 1. I'm excited to hear his take on the second and third Witcher games, since I've actually played them, but I'm most excited for him to be done with the Witcher because he absolutely needs to do an Outer Wilds video.
  17. So I'm pretty close to finishing this and I have come to the controversial opinion that Xen is the best part and also by far the best and most alien world I've experienced in a video game. Despite most of the game looking 6-8 years old, Xen is one of the most astounding environments I've seen in a game.
  18. Much like Doom 2016, you outscale the enemies so the end of the game feels easier than the beginning and middle. I suspect that controller gameplay also exacerbates ammo issues since changing weapons isn't as simple as it is on KB&M. I think the combat arenas on the last level felt more difficulty because they were more strictly rectangular than most other combat arenas in the game, so it was easier to box yourself in a corner. They also had less useful verticality since you could not easily jump up floors.
  19. The low health indicator in this game is unbelievably obtrusive. Eventually I got used to it, but the first few times it happened to me I was very frustrated. I do wonder how many of the people having negative experiences with the game and its difficulty are playing with controllers. Personally, I don't think I would enjoy either DOOM on a controller at all. Eternal added a ton of mechanics that I imagine would clutter the hell out of the controller and the weak spot system punishes imprecision far more than 2016 did.
  20. There are so many great title song but this episode of game of thrones takes it for me when it comes to perfect tonal shifts.
