  1. More things need to be set in the pacific northwest. Nothing bad and everything good is done in that setting.
  2. The worst bloom of all time was in Rainbow Six Siege before they improved it. Holy shit having that level of bloom in a competitive shooter was infuriating.
  3. Of all the companies capable of buying Discord I trust Microsoft the most to not immediately ruin it.
  4. I wish we got a better look at the remaster but at least they kept with the series convention of doing super on the nose references. I'm skeptical of True Colors. I didn't love Before the Storm and I also think the time travel mechanic is really what made the first game work. Not to get too deep into it but I hate in these dialogue based games when you pick an option where the tone differs significantly from what you imagined based on the preview, and the rewind feature is an elegant solution to this.
  5. I mean, if you actually read the full quote that generated the first headline it's clear that the developers understood that the subject was inherently political. “For us as a team, it is really about helping players understand the complexity of urban combat. It’s about the experiences of that individual that is now there because of political decisions. And we do want to show how choices that are made by policymakers affect the choices that [a Marine] needs to make on the battlefield. Just as that [Marine] cannot second-guess the choices by the policymakers, we’re not trying to make a political commentary about whether or not the war itself was a good or a bad idea.”
  6. It's interesting how few of these movies are from the last twenty years. I don't really know how to account for that. Which of these movies are redeemable? I don't go for the ultra-realistic torture stuff, but I liked the psychological aspects of movies like Funny Games and A Clockwork Orange. I'm not exactly sure how to put it, but I'm less interested in movies that just show how fucked up the director is and more drawn to movies that show how fucked up we are.
  7. Cool looking game. I'd heard that Nintendo was working on "proaliasing" technology and it's impressive to see them roll it out on such a big project.
  8. As a magic player, this could be a problem.
  9. Spec Ops is kind of the high water mark for serious narrative war games. The problem with these games is that they make the senseless murder too fun to provide meaningful commentary, fortunately Spec Ops sidestepped that issue by being boring as shit.
  10. Does FFXIV do crossplay? If not the idea of them bringing it to a new platform seems pretty wild given the way leveling is structured. It would be kind of cool and kind of horrifying to see a whole batch of new players go through every expansion at the same time.
  11. This seems like a really bizarre unforced error to come out after MS has seemingly been making decent pro-consumer moves for the last few years.
  12. I actually ended up liking Man of Medan more than I expected. The setting / premise wasn't my favorite, but I thought the characters were quite entertaining. I discovered that I got the "bad" ending in Little Hope, and while the other endings aren't quite as trash, I'm still pretty mad about how the last five minutes of that game played out. I do like that the anthology games are shorter than Until Dawn, which makes playing through them with a couple of friends a lot easier to do in 1-2 nights. I'm also glad that with Little Hope they added warning prompts that a QTE is coming, making the whole thing feel a lot more fair. Overall, I've liked all the games in the series and think they're worth playing cooperatively, but I'm still mad about Little Hope since prior to the last few minutes it was my favorite of the series.
  13. Their aesthetics aren't for anyeveryone, and they have a reputation for poor quality control and reliability.
  14. The simple answer is that there are a lot of mechanical keyboards, and other than how they look there's very little functional difference between them. There are a lot of switches out there, but if you've never used a mechanical keyboard just get cherry mx brown switches, they don't make extra noise but you feel a click at the moment of actuation. I've had good experiences with Ducky keyboards in the past in terms of reliability, but I suspect most companies are just fine.
  15. Are they free with this game or just playable through it with some sort of registration mechanism like with the Halo collection? Either way I got the first one for free a while back so I can start on that when I'm feeling it.
  16. I should really get into these games. I've loved watching various Giantbomb videos of them over the years, and it seems like they've been quietly killing it with the series.
  17. People who choose male characters deserve what they get.
  18. Yeah, I don't think it's a fair comparison, and I definitely liked Cyberpunk more than RDR2. RDR2 was a fantastic looking game with pretty unrivaled presentation, but its storytelling and gameplay belong to the same era as Cyberpunk's civilian/cop AI.
