The main problem with the bot was that IGN was creating those threads as the comments section of their articles. So the reason you'd see all those hit-and-run retarded posts by people with 2 or 3 posts was, I'm guessing, an artifact of people honestly not realizing that they weren't just commenting on a standard comments thread. Hell, I was even lambasted recently over the fact that I did engage in a debate with BT. Not only are people ignoring him over his different views, but they've actually reached the point that they will attack those who don't engage in this silent treatment. That just goes to show how far this board has fallen. The same is true with my ever-so-popular threads. If I post one of my infamous middle-east related threads and you want to call me an idiot, go right ahead. But the stipulation on that is that you have to explain WHY you think I'm an idiot. Engage in a debate. Simply saying "You're a moron" or posting an emoticon and leaving the thread doesn't cut it. Sadly, that's what happens most of the time and it's rather disappointing, as I would enjoy a good debate with someone who would provide solid counter-points on the matter. But that hasn't happened here in a long time. There still are good posters left. DM engages in good debates with users with whom he strongly disagrees. RicoFoley does the same. As do a few others. But there are so many cases where we see nothing more than an insult or the laughing emoticon, followed by absolutely nothing of substance. That kills the board in two ways: 1. it immediately stops any good debate from taking place, and 2. it drives away any new posters with different views.
