I had the parasite that gives you a 20% chance not to lose a consumable so it was nice not to lose my vial or damage siphon, though wasn’t necessary. Also. I guess Damage Siphon doesn’t work against bosses? None of my integrity got repaired in the last phase when I used it.

Successfully connecting the pylons into a web of total enemy destruction is so satisfying. And over-prepared, eh, I think steamrolling things is the just, and extremely fun, reward for actually playing well enough and surviving as long as it takes to be this decked-out to begin with. That's the seemingly endless fun of Returnal's gameplay for me, there are so many small rewards way outside of beating things and the gameplay is just so absurdly smooth.

I was on vacation for a week but as soon as I got back...back into playing regularly. Possibly the most addictive game ever for me outside of maybe Souls games.

New patch out, some pretty good fixes:

Patch 1.4.1 is set to release on July 5th at Noon Helsinki Time (GMT +3).

Reminder that if you have the automatic updates turned on, the game will close while in rest mode in order to install the update.

Patch Notes:

  • Platinum: "Atropian Survival", "Welcome Home", and "Sins of the Mother" Trophies can now be unlocked by replaying the Act 3 ending

  • Daily Challenge: Fixed a rare issue where players might be unable to complete a Daily Challenge in the Fractured Wastes

  • Daily Challenge: Fixed an occasional issue with incorrect loot spawning in the Daily Challenge

  • Fixed an issue which could cause save-game corruption in rare circumstances

  • Fixed an intermittent visual issue when scanning new items

I still have only put a few hours into this and haven't gotten past biome 2. Work has been killer and I had to fit the Yuffie DLC in for FF7R. Hoping to play more in the coming weeks.

Time to get back to it.

Bruh. :epilepsy:

I fucking did it, my first Platinum ever and the first game that's ever given me the urge to actually do it. No guides and shit either. Sorry for the janky phone pic

One of my new favorite games of all time. I'll still keep playing because I'm still missing a few PS5 activity cards like collecting every artifact.

This can't be one of your new fav games of all time because @Biggie said there are no games to play since he's :salt: he can't find a ps5 yet, stop lying

The last few years has been insane in terms of gaming. I constantly play 'new favorite' games. This year alone has been several games where I thought how the fuck is this game this fucking good?

Dunno if there's been a slow year since 2014.

And even then, Wii U owners were telling me there was plenty!

I just went to Duluth, Minnesota. The amount of language policing I did on myself...nobody there curses seemingly ever.

It's just apart of our culture in the Midwest to be courteous in public, limiting our use of swear words.  It's a whole other story when you're with friends or colleagues, then it's fuck this and fuck that every other word.  Just go to a Midwest bar late at night and you'll see the cursing come out.

Having just spent the previous year and a half in the New York/New Jersey area after being in LA for so long even I was taken aback by how aggresive New Yorkers and New Jerseyans are with casual speech and I grew up there  Now I know why so many were afraid to talk to me when I first moved out here

I worked in the Bay Area for a year and I felt like I was always offending someone without knowing why at all. On the flipside, I'm in construction and it got me several other job offers for 'not wasting time' :dab2:

Well, I still live in Philly and I curse a lot (fucking Minnesota? apologies @Bloodporne). :p  We don't curse at my current job and policing myself is exhausting.  Also I'm not playing Returnal enough.

Oh I didn't realize you're from Philly. Me and my gf have been talking about visiting that medical oddities museum there and just going for a day trip in general. Any tips for cool but not typical things to check out?

Definitely - the medical oddities museum is a fun place (a lot of fun - took my wife there early when we dated) - the Mutter Museum (particularly during Halloween where they do some cool things there). On top of that I'd definitely go to Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, which is an incredible unique art exhibit spanning a number of buildings/rooms - very cool. If you do end up going PM me and I can give more stuff and more details!

  • 2 weeks later...

Someone took an immense amount of time and care to put their wild interpretation of Returnal down in a massive article. Apparently the game's director, and other writers, really dig it:

Aaron Suduiko on Twitter: "@harrytkrueger @Housemarque I spent the last month writing a 20k-word psychoanalytic interpretation of #Returnal. Thank you for creating a work of art with such rich and innovative storytelling. I hope many other gamers get to enjoy it in the coming years. https://t.co/FxN4c5aEpC" / Twitter

I read half of it last night and thought it was actually really cool and between this and Reddit's community for the game, I'm glad to see people not just writing it off as too weird or convoluted.

@SimpleG somehow I'm still doing this wrong. I copied/pasted the browser link and this is all I get.
