This games seems really cool and atmospheric. Looks like a lot of fun to play as well.

I took a couple of hits I really shouldn't have and didn't lose my "extra men" until the third stage of the battle but like I said, I had a pretty good build. I think i had some artifacts that increased my protection at low health. That's how I was able to take some of those hits when I had little health. Love this game though.

Can anyone give me a crash course in how to upload gameplay videos from PS5 like this? This is the first game I feel compelled to actually do the same to 'compare', would be fun! Do I need to create a YouTube account and link it in System Settings or so?

Yes. Create a you tube account and then download sharfactory on your PS5 if you haven't already done so. You can edit and save your videos there. The PS5 is always caching your gameplay so as soon as you're done playing, press the share button and it will give you the option to save a specified amount of gameplay from your previous session depending on how much space you have on your hard drive. You can then go in and edit your videos... the editing interface is pretty simple and they have some decent options for making little game play vids. Its pretty cool and I'm glad kids have tools like this at their disposal.

That was an overwhelming assusult. You did take quite a few hits but you said you had added protection. It looks doable but yikes. Great job beating that. Thanks for sharing.

Just got to the 4th boss and got to his third stage attack on the first try...I'll have him beaten in the next day or so when i have time for another run.

Do you like that gun?  I know it seems to be a fan favorite but I can't really stand it.  Just packs so little punch overall.  Once you upgrade it a little more its got some cool perks that really helps it, but I felt it's DPS was just too low when I used it.

I don;t mind it especially that configuration. I always go for the gun with the highest bonus damage or one that has perks I haven't unlocked yet. I don't really have a preferences with the weapons in this game. I like all of them to be honest.

After I finished my first full runs I just started picking up any gun to unlock the perks on them. Def made the game a bit more challenging as some guns are clearly inferior to others.

That's pretty much how I've been playing. Picking up whatever gun had better perks than what I was already carrying or had perks I hadn't unlocked yet.

I didn't like Hollowseeker at all at first, it felt kinda weak, but once I unlocked Serrated and Waves traits in one gun, the thing started shredding everything. 

 

My current favorite has been actually the regular handgun with Charge, Burst Fire and Homing traits. I played through the entire Biome 4, beat the boss and then did a significant chunk of Biome 5 (seemingly) with that thing. Burst Fire plus Charge is great.

Did you guys see that you there's a Ship Log you can read if you bring up the Overall Stats monitor in the ship and skip one screen over? I never even noticed it until yesterday.

Boss 4 is down

 

 

Took a couple of hits but nothing crazy. I was pretty O.P. for this fight to be honest... had several health packs, a pretty powerful gun and a few protection augments. Also had an astronaut that I didn't even use. Still on this run in the 5th Biome... one third of the way through.

Biome 6 is making me stash this game for the week. Was hoping to beat that level today but after the third failed run caused by malfunction-causing homing missiles, I'm at frustration level 11/10 and need to cool down. Almost rage quit massively after an entire afternoon wasted on like two massive runs.

Sorry to hear. Yep, take a break for sure. That's the issue with this type of game and you obviously know that. I'd play something completely different and easy going.

Slow and steady with those guys. You've got some great weapons -- portal beams with hollowseekers, pylon webs with pylon guns, just keep your distance and don't lose your cool.

I did that the first time I reached the boss, and almost killed him actually, but the next few times I tried, the RNG just fucked me royally every time. I don't even wanna write more about it because it'll just turn into a rage fest lol

So i forgot that PS5 doesn't have quick resume, quit out of Returnal during a REALLY good run to upload a clip and when I started up another app, it quit the game. I forgot that unlike the series X, it doesn't just pick up where you left off in the game

Even as someone who hasn't had a terribly hard time with this game prior to Biome 6, this game really needs a Save & Quit option in my opinion. I've had to abandon multiple good and long runs because of a) fatigue, b) the real world (pesky shit like you know, significant others, work) or c) there not being any end in sight in terms of some form of permanent progress. Biome 5 especially expects you to collect several things in one run that can easily take like 2 hours, it's too much. 

 

I just don't see how a Souls-style Save & Quit option would harm the experience at all after playing the shit out of it for the past week. I really love the game but this is a really dumb omission in my opinion.

I admit I started reading this and just X'd out after the second paragraph. This is too nerdy even for me and I have no interest in this genre I think beyond maybe Dead Cells next haha

I think the best thing to takeaway from that article is that picture and then the Berlin interpretation (of course).
