I have 60 vigor and I can get two shot from some elite mobs, as in stronger than normal but can still respawn. Vigor is by far the best stat and also the most useless. Cuz the number doesn't mean shit. I got hit by a field boss that would take 95% of my health bar with one move. If I wasn't at full health or I didn't get out of the blast radius I was dead. The majority of the game you are basically just going through the game with 2 hit points. You can get hit once, but never twice. Sometimes that will change to 3, but 2 seems to be the most common. And your flask basically just restores 1 hit point. Usually, it is mandatory bosses that let you have 3 hit points.

Furtherproof of Just dodge. I have been buffing up my vigor now but I feel I am in a good spot with damage and stamina so don't have much else.

Basically and I don't like it. Game definitely incentivizes spamming the O/B button more than any other title.

I’m leveling up how I do in Cvania with mostly strength but throw in a health/endurance every few strength upgrades. Idea being that I don’t want normal enemies to be able to take me down too easy but figure on larger enemies Ill be one hit killed or close anyway so I try to just reduce the amount of time I need to “survive” for. Sounds like that works well for this?

Honestly, stats that increase weapon damage are, not useless, but like 75-80% of your weapon's damage comes from upgrades. Once I could wield my weapons and armor of choice without fat rolling I just pumped everything into Vigor until 40.

I don't use a shield outside of fighting the little imp dudes as I pair it with a lightning spear as I got tired of them just dodging my greatswords, but I do have that shield. But only 27 str pre buffs. I just use the tutorial boss shield. Also works well with the non-magical watchdogs you can find. Made that one dungeon in the mountaintops ezpz.

Lol I never thought of it that way but damn so true.

Just spent 2 hours on Mohg, damn that was a bitch and by far my longest boss fight.  Had 37 Vigor going into it, and felt like I had to be damn near perfect the whole fight.  The 2nd phase took me awhile to get used to, and still so many time's the smallest mistake threw the whole attempt.

I finally got him though, and damn did that feel good.  Still need to spend time in that region though as I mostly sped through it on my horse.  That place seems like it's going to be dreadful to navigate with some of those enemy types around.

The stamina consumption is more in line with Bloodborne than Souls here, yea. The game absolutely expects roll fests.

It wouldn't bother me basically at all if we dashed instead of rolled like in BB. Quickstep and Bloodhound's step weapon arts are not good alternatives either due to the FP cost. Rolling this much makes my eyes blur.

Yeah, I really wish Quickstep was like a free default L2 ability, like say let you remove the ashe from your weapon and allow Quickstep as default for no FP. Not like it would be OP compared to Hoarfrost Stomp and the like. I absolutely loved Quickstepping in Bloodborne.

Did a lot of exploring today and got to level 70 and got some upgrades and ish. Still not sure where exactly the next great rune but I think I’m close in at least one direction. Made the easiest 70k ruins ever while exploring south east by coming up on this

fucking huge sleeping dragon

. I was surprised it kept letting me hit it without attracting any other enemies or triggering any attacks, just let me put in the 10-15 minutes it took to actually drain its HP lol.

Yeah, he's a very well known exploit. I did the same with my second character. I want to beat him fair on my main.

If you had used a golden fowl foot you would have gotten ~100k

Everyonce in awhile, I starte a new character in Skryim just to go explore and do shit... been doing that since the game came out over 10 years ago. THIS game will be my new go to.

A good idea even to just experience the crazy ass magic spells if you went warrior build the first time too.

You know, I have always hated crafting. I didn't like that ER had crafting. But you know what? This game has exactly my kind of crafting. You can make what you want when you want. It is great to be able to make arrows literally on the go. Got an enemy aggro'd to you but below the cliff you are on so you can't hit it with arrows? Bam, fire pots. You can make'em on the stop and free aim that shit for the ez kill. In a death swap with no cures? Just collect the conveniently place butterflies and BAM! Free cure for what ails you. Don't need to stinkin' work bench. Don't need no uber legendary herb. Fruit, bones, grass, and butterflies. It is crafting for people who hate crafting. Don't need no shop, don't need to teleport anywhere. It is the most perfect crafting system ever invented.

I was gonna write about this at some point. I really like the crafting here for the same reasons. It's another thing to keep you in the world at all times instead of creating a pause.

Speaking of crafting, and the first area (again) I went back there because I needed some bones for some arrows. I visited that dude under the arch (I think I forgot he was there) and he talked about killing the dragon.

But then I went across this bridge I'd been over several times and this time a boss knight on a horse spawns. I was like WTF?

Yeah, he only spawns at night. He's quite easy, at least compared to Tree Sentinel outside the first church.

He can drop a nasty weapon, forgot what it's called but I want to get into using it.

I’m maybe 16 hours in now and sword & board feels viable so far. I’m rolling much less than I did in BB.

I only play sword & board and it's definitely viable, yeah. Just later on, they really ramp up the bosses and magic attacks and what not are rampant so it's often roll city out there.

He drops that Halbred right?

I believe the halberd drops from one in Liunaria of the lake. Near the church of vowes. I am using the commander's banner and the black knight halberd. Gotta get used to the timing for pvp.

I finally leveled up enough to have the strength to use the Brick Hammer. It's not the best weapon I have but it breaks enemies poise almost every hit that they aren't able to attack back. Doesn't hurt that it has B strength scaling. Makes my guy look like he means business. I'm rotating between this and Bloodhound's Fang.

Sword and board gets a lot better when you get a better board. The basic knights from the start of the game can drop the Brass Shield, which I'm still using. Put Barricade on it and it's a pretty solid medium shield.

I've got so many shields, from kite, to brass, to wooden tower and steel tower.

I have a huge tower shield I use with my Icerind Hatchet when im exploring legacy dungeons (i don't use it in boss fights because I hate fat rolling), and its just guard counter after guard counter. And if I start to get overwhelmed, I Hoarfrost stomp (no ash on my tower shield).
