Lol that doesn't answer my question 🤣

That is amazing. There aren't better weapons for per say. Like if you max out a weapon in terms of upgrades at that point it's about leveling up stats and making it quality, keen, or heavy.

For those who are new to Souls games, will this game cause you to go back and play the others?

I think I would probably just play this game again with a different spec. Although I guess I'm new in the sense of newly enjoying myself in a souls game rather than never having played them before.

I upgraded my sword to its max by smithing. How do you get better swords?

I doubt it's maxed. It goes to +25. But there are more rare weapons out there that have a lower maximum. I think its 6. You just need higher quality smithing stones, whick are an obtuse mess, because nothing differentiates the quality besides which slot it's in. It is what it is.

What kind of sword are you using? What kind do you want?

Ill probably finish Dark Souls 3, and play Demon's Souls, which I haven't even downloaded since I bought it. I have no intention of playing 1 and 2. I owned the original on ps3, and I found it clunky and hard to play. Ill stick the the more modern stuff, and ill definitely replay this for years, im sure.

Okay let's not conflate "makes classic games on the regular" with "clearly has infallible design." Making fantastic games is not the same as being able to do no wrong or make design missteps.

That said, what kinda little bitch sees a big ass hole and doesn't immediately jump down? You little girls scared you were gonna lose your 12 runes at the start of the game? JUMP BITCH JUMP! You never know what's down a big hole!

Anyone playing on a PS4? I’m a curious gamer…but if it’s shit, I’ll hold off.

You'll be locked in to 30fps, and there is still the frame pacing issue, but that's in like all of their games. Draw distance will be low and I think there is less foliage overall maybe making the ground look a but plain, but if you have ever only ever played these games on console then you won't notice anything. Like, it doesn't look worse than DS3 or BB. My bother who still has a base PS4 is having a blast with the game.

If you haven't visited the Limgrave Tunnels yet, the boss is very susceptible to fire. (This isn't really too much of a spoiler since the majority of the messages leading up to him involve taking enemies out with fire). Put some fire grease on your weapon and this guy goes down in like 5 or 6 shots.

(I'm only level 25 btw)

Guys Miyazaki is trolling us. The lady that hugs us gives a 5% hp debuff. Use the item you get from her and go to a grace and pass time for the debuff to be removed.

But it also increases attributes and FP. Its not just a debuff.

Also, Bloodhounds fang! Can't believe I didn't use this before now!

Oh wow... I can't believe how good this curved greatsword is combined with blood grease. I was killing an erdtree guardian in a northern area, and running in and out on Torrent, taking shots at him while Jellyfish tanked (leveled up Jellyfish is an amazing tank), then all of a sudden, a huge chunk of his health bar just *poof*.. Gone. I hadn't even tried greasing my weapons before, now its in my quick pouch with my lantern and Torrent.

I actually think it might. The other Souls games had a learning curve that was so steep i always checked out long before i got any good. It just wasnt fun. Elden Ring so far has a much more forgiving learning curve, which is letting me get better at FromSoft's mechanics. I feel like they finally nailed the difficulty balancing for me. After i'm done with Elden Ring I might try my hand at some of the older games just to see if I've started to finally "get" it.

What the fuck? Do you have to USE the item she gives you for that debuff to hit or what? I let her hug me quite some time ago by now but never noticed anything I guess.

Unrelated question regarding the Godrick Great Rune:

Spoiler

So after defeating Godrick, I got the spent Great Rune. I went to recharge/active it at the tower (which was fucking awesome) but...how do I actually use it and get the benefits of it raising all my attributes?? I've tried equipping it in all kinds of ways but don't see it.

At a site of grace you will have a rune option. There is an item that either let's you use it. Rune something. It's active until you die.

There’s a consumable item called a Rune Arc that activates that. I have several of those, but no great runes.

You need an item, i forget the name, but the vendor at the roundtable in the back room sells them.

I don't think the game is easier so much as there are alternatives. I haven't touched Sekiro because I don't realldy get frustrated with Elden Ring. In fairness I find alot of the cav bosses pretty easy. However if I run into a tough area I tend to go do something else if I can't progress.

I thought I might make some progress into the castle but instead went exploring more around the first area. Finding a lot of things, and then found the

Spoiler

Sofia River

And thought oh this will be quick. The place is huge.

Long story short you can spend 16 hours in the opening area and you've barely cracked the game :p

Also, in case you didn't know after the gatefront ruins when you go up the path beyond the Grace pile

Spoiler

Up where the giant is, there is an item.
Also where the castle part  right around him there is a medallion

and if you start from the grace pile after that area, there's a grave yard full of jellyfish and you can find

Spoiler

Some ashes that summon two soldiers

Ah, so it's not a constant overall buff to your character. I thought that's what it was telling me. You activated it, now you reap the rewards.

This is how I feel. The earlier mini bosses and world bosses train you for the challenges ahead, teaching you how to deal with new mechanics. The watch cat teaching you jumping and flame, the Beastman teaching you about dealing with fast lashes and picking openings, the stonedigger teaches you about AoE. You need all three of those against Margit.

Getting revenge on Grafted Scion was a strong point of the castle for me 😆 I wonder if that room is empty if you kill him first go?

Usually I die because I got greedy looking for an extra hit. Without fail, its my biggest gameplay flaw.

Absolutely. That "just one more hit" is my downfall most of the time really. Once I dialed it back on Godrick and just kept my cool, I actually took him down fairly quickly.
