The Bad Batch (along with Andor) is the best piece of Star Wars media released in a very long time.

Rebels and Ahsoka (i.e. Rebels season 5) are also very good-- even if some of the live action casting (thinking Sabine and Hera) made it a little inconsistent.

Most of the complaints I have heard irl about Ahsoka are from people who never watched Rebels.

I really enjoyed the last season of The Bad Batch. Maybe this is fucking lame of me but that scene where Omega and Tech are talking and he has to explain that just because he is not outwardly expressive doesn't mean that he doesn't feel things. It was very relatable for me as I've been accused of not caring about things that I actually care deeply about. There are just some emotions and feelings that are very hard for me to express. Anyways, really good writing!

yes but why not watch clone wars first

I was just curious. My appetite for Star Wars content is limited at the moment, but if people are putting this on the level of Andor, I’m intrigued. I don’t even have D+ right now so it’s all hypothetical at this point.

I hesitate to put it on the level of Andor, but it is compelling storytelling with good characters. It's still got dramatic moments but they play differently than dramatic moments in Andor.

I highly recommend Bad Batch anyway.

The comprehensiveness and interweaving of the Star Wars canon does make "catching up" more of a chore than it needs to be. But it's something that I do recommend people who are interested in the overall story to do eventually.

Tech's face when the specialist Imp clone trooper is unmasked

in the next episode.

Would not want this either, but it might just be that this is how it happens.

Tonight's pair of episodes work so really damned well together, especially in consistently illustrating the depth of the Empire's banal evil.

I'm truly going to miss this series when it finally concludes :(

The first was one of the bleakest piece of SW I've ever seen. The second was riveting tension.

Absolutely amazing epsiodes.  Absolutely loving the degree to which Bad Batch (and Andor, in some regards) fleshes out how repugnant the Empire really is; so much of Star Wars presents it in on a grander scale, which nonetheless feels a bit more sterile.  Episodes like the first of the two from this week on Bad Batch evoked a similar (albeit much stronger) feeling of the episode last season that ended with Crosshair killing the Imperial officer; both showcased just how utterly dehumanizing the Empire's influence is/was on personal levels.

Absolutely riveting.  And the second BB ep of the week, just an extraordinary buildup of tension and inevitability.

Semi-spoilerish based upon the events from the BB episodes this week -

Spoiler

I'd had a feeling that this series was not going to have a happy ending from the start of the season; that feeling has only intensified.  I know that preservation of continuity isn't really any kind of meaningful barometer for series which don't air chronologically aligned with the events within the universe, but I keep thinking about how we never see/hear anything about Omega or Clone Troop 99 in any media which occurs after the events of Bad Batch.

I really want to hope that there is some sort of happy ending where the survivors find some place where they can "retire" and live in peace...but I can't see it happening.

Only a little more left and there’s so many ways this could go.

Still wild to me that the PT never really landed for me in a meaningful way and I think a lot of the worst indulgences of the franchise live in those movies (until Rise of Skywalker, at least), but The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch have ended up being so enjoyable. It’s also nice to see Filoni and the gang “learn” from some of the less good parts of The Clone Wars and to have a really solid, distilled show in The Bad Batch.

I’m hoping for something that resembles a happy ending, or at least as much of one was would vibe with the series overall, but I’m not holding my breath. I suppose we’ll see.

I should paint the squad up from Shatterpoint, the sculpts are quite good!

Well that was really quite good.

Spoiler

With what we know about RoS I was convinced Omega would end up in Imperial custody at the end of this, but I suppose the intense interest in Grogu is justified assuming that someone figured out cloning with Force powers intact is possible but lost Onega’s data.

I also assume Omega’s age at the end makes it possible she’ll show up in the Mando movie or Ahsoka or something?

In any event this was a really lovely send off for most of these characters. I feel like everyone’s ending was earned and while I wouldn’t have been upset with a bittersweet ending, it was nice to see the Batch live to enjoy some R&D to the extent they can with the Empire still being around and whatnot. I hope Filoni gets to make another Star Wars cartoon, he really seems to get the medium. While I initially thought The Clone Wars was kind of a boring looking show, I’ve come to appreciate the style and the last season in particular I found very pretty.

Not much whining from me for once, just a solid ending to a solid show.

EDIT - I didn't see I basically cribbed @CayceG comment word for word, @Commissar SFLUFAN I commit myself to the posting gulag
