Loved 2049, couldn’t really get into Black Lotus on Adult Swim (ending I was starting to like a little) I’m more then happy to see Amazon try to develop and do something more with the series. I’d love to see what happened between the 2 movies, even if mentioned just by word. I wanna hear the rumblings and the reverberations of the new born through their eyes/people. Fuck, I’m pretty much saying just rewrite the New Testament with just a bit more sci-if added.

I fully think Villeneuve was the magic ingredient in 2049 being as shockingly good as it is, that man's Midas Touch is insane. That being said, I'll absolutely give this a shot, can't hurt! Maybe lighting will strike again and like @Greatoneshere said, the universe is so rich, you could basically take it anywhere as long as they keep the tone intact in my opinion. I do hope they make an extra effort to set it apart from shows like Altered Carbon and others that are clearly heavily Blade Runner inspired.

Villeneuve is absolutely the reason 2049 was as good as it was. But getting Scott back in to executive produce, co-writer Michael Green back to write, etc. at least possibly could be good. I'm gonna have to watch Blade Runner: Black Lotus now.

This man is on an absolutely ridiculous winning streak right now. I'll freely admit I didn't have that much interest in seeing Dune and even that ended up with me walking out of the theater feeling elated and excited like a little kid, the kind of movie experience you don't have much as an adult.

Super unpopular opinion here:  I haven't been able to make it through 2049.  I think the visuals are amazing... hell I even purchased it on 4k a long while back.  It just moves so slow, I have tried to watch it 3 times and have found myself falling asleep during the movie every time.  Maybe I need to load up on red bull and give it another shot.  I want to like it.  I loved Dunc.

I fit helps any, there's nothing requiring you to watch it all in one sitting. Watch an hour, come back to it again some other time (5 minutes later or 5 hours later, who cares).

It absolutely is a very specific mood and pacing in my opinion. I actually had a false start with it myself so I don't blame you nor people who didn't like it due to the pacing in general.

I think both of the films are certified masterpieces, so putting any TV show up against them feels inherently unfair.

That said, Amazon still seems very willing to spend tons of money on shows. The show can be good or great even if it doesn’t entirely match-up. Probably helpful that the setting precludes it being an immediate sequel.

It is very slow paced and there is not a lot of dialog relative to the length. My favorite scene has no dialog in it in fact! So I do think it's understandable that it won't be for everyone.

DEADLINE.COM

Prime Video's sequel limited series 'Blade Runner 2099' has cast Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in an undisclosed role, Deadline can reveal.

Quote

Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh has found her next major starring vehicle in Blade Runner 2099, Prime Video‘s limited series following up the 2017 movie sequel Blade Runner 2049.

Details of Yeoh’s role are under wraps, as is the show’s plot. But it marks the latest expansion of the sci-fi franchise based on Philip K. Dick’s seminal novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which kicked off with Ridley Scott’s classic 1982 film, Blade Runner. Production recently began overseas, following a delay of nearly a year due to the double strikes of 2023. While it originally had been set to shoot in Belfast, the show wound up relocating to Prague following the work stoppage.
