Damn let’s not pretend like the early Sonic games weren’t fucking lit, and for all its flaws Sonic Adventure 2 is still an all time classic

Sonic 1 is fine. Sonic 2 is very good. Sonic 3 is great. The rest are all over the map and rarely good. The music occasionally slaps though, that counts for something.

The modern emulation stuff where you can see the entire map at once for the 2D games seems like it'd help a lot, the going fast part always felt at odds with your extremely limited FOV.

The 2D Genesis/Megadrive Sonic games are amazing. It's precision platforming while navigating a maze. It made for a unique experience unlike most other platformers at the time or even since.

Sonic's only real crime is its contribution to the world of furries through the comic series.
